She had watched her teacher for a month trying to figure out who her bond was with, but to no avail. Her lessons had been helping her to control the emotions she felt in her head and she had joined the headmistress for tea a few times when she couldn't control them. It made her feel safe, as though she could step outside the world for a little while.
It was during one of her lessons that she got her first clue towards the identity of her headmistress' bond partner. They were working on magical theory when a rush of affection and love washed over her from the headmistress. She looked up to find Dowling staring out of the classrooms window. She did this often, Musa thought that it was because she got bored, but now she knew it had a purpose. Her teacher was watching someone. Knowing her curiosity would spike, the dark haired teenager turned back to her work so that her headmistress wouldn't pick up on it.
Her second clue was during an assembly. The elder fairy was standing at the front of the room, speaking about the new training schedules and techniques when another wave of affection came over her. She watched the teachers eyes flicker upwards to connect with someone else's at the back of the room. A small smile twitched at the corners of her mouth. So small, you wouldn't notice it unless you were looking, which she was. By the time she had turned around there was no one there.
Her third and final clue came after one of her lessons with her headmistress. It had not been a productive lesson, in fact both fairies had ended up drinking tea and chatting together. The emotions had been high around the school today and both mind fairies had been severely affected by them. Musa had already left for her dorm but had decided to take a detour back to the training grounds. A she neared the raised platforms used for sparring, she heard the unmistakable sound of wooden staffs being hit against each other. She crept closer so that she could watch and was surprised to find that those sparring were actually her headteachers. She watched them as they moved gracefully around each other, hitting move after move as they fought. Eventually her headmistress struck the specialist down and he rolled to the edge of the mat. Sitting up and leaning on his elbows, Musa could see the grin displayed on his face.
"Still got it then Fa?"
It made the empath smile to hear the nickname he gave the fairy, and her smile only grew as she spotted a faint blush rising on Dowlings face as the woman retorted.
"Of course I do."
The headmistress offered a hand to the specialist who took it and stood up quickly. The teenager watched as he place his arms around the fairy's waist and lent his head against her. The strongest wave of love and affection she had felt came rolling of the pair almost making the dark haired fairy gasp at its strength. Deciding not to interrupt or spy any longer the young fairy quickly headed back to her suite.
Musa went over everything in her head as she lay in bed that night. Things had started making sense. She should have realised that the window in her classroom looked out over the training grounds where you could watch the specialists, and at the back of the assembly hall out of the corner of her eye she had seen Silva leaving, she hadn't paid him any notice however. Not to mention before Rosalinds attack when the specialist had been injured by a burned one she had been one of the people who had witnessed Dowling rushing to help him. She had witnessed the anxious look in the elder woman's eyes, had felt the worry rolling of her teacher. She had thought it was just worry for a friend but she was wrong. Then during Rosalind's and the burned ones attack both of them had stayed close to one another, even when it was all over they had always been near one another.
She hoped that she and Sam could be like that when they were older. She hoped that they would be able to have even half the love those two had.
