Part 1

January 5th, the unfortunate news that Andromeda Tonks had peacefully passed away remained in the minds of many wizards and witches. However, there was a matter that needed to be tended to urgently. In the mind of Draco Malfoy, he assumed he may be best suited for the task. Meanwhile Harry Potter, the famous "boy who lived" had a similar notion in his own mind, the new home for Edward Remus Lupin. 

Of course, this wouldn't be a "new" home Harry had always thought of Teddy as a member of the Potter family. Ginny had often wondered if her quidditch career was causing Harry to struggle with having no children around. Having Teddy visit kept his want satisfied enough for the last few years. 

This never crossed Draco's mind, he never expected to live this long, never mind having children around. But low and behold, this was an open opportunity for him to raise a young child better then his father had done with him. When he shared this news with his mother, she had been so surprised she had almost choked on her tea, this was a good surprise for her, she was excited and thrilled to see her nephew, even if he had been a half blood. Draco never did know how Lucius felt about it, he hadn't spoken to his father since he had been sent to Azkaban.

"What do you mean you get him?!" Draco yelled while rising from his seat.

The day of Andromeda's funeral has been quite overwhelming, Harry Potter and the "Golden Trio" of course were in attendance. But what surprised Harry was Draco had joined in the memoriam.

"What did you expect Malfoy? I'm his Godfather" Harry spoke

"I don't care if your the bloody queen of England Potter, I'm his cousin! I'm his blood!" Draco snarled at him

"You both have excellent points. And as Andromeda hadn't left directions for the care of her grandchild it can be left for the ministry to decide" Buckstrod said

"No!" Draco and Harry yelled simultaneously

Draco disagreed because he thought Harry would then receive custody for his part in defeating the dark lord, and the title of God father.

Harry thought Draco would recieve custody due to being one of the last blood family Teddy had. Even though Harry considered Teddy as his son already, he feared not having Teddy in his life.

This was not what the ministry had originally thought of, instead they helped plant the seed of something else.

"Well, I am assuming neither of you want to give up your rights to the boy?" Buckstrod said

"Well I'm not" Harry snapped

"Tough luck Potter, I have more rights obviously" Draco snapped back

"What I'm trying to say is you both have an opportunity here" Buckstrod interrupted

"You both could simply raise the boy together, neither of you have children of your own and so there is that option." He explained

Not only did his opinion shock Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy but the fact that it could work made it even more likely. Draco didn't feel the need to work, so the young boy wouldn't be alone while perfect Potter worked. The excitement in the ministry worker was hard to hide.

"I suppose it wouldn't be the end of the world" Harry said

"Oh really Potter? That's what you have compared it to?" Draco moaned

"Then it's settled, the boy has two legal guardians. Family blood and chosen family, of course the ministry will want to do some visits to make sure everything is in order" Buckstrod said while complying his papers and moving to close his file.
