Dear diary,

Today I had gone for another casting audition. It's a big role in a magnum opus, Hasratein. A lead role opposite HIM. I gave it my best shot and this time, I am really hoping to get the selection call. This is my last chance. I remember when I used to say the words 'last chance', amma and appa used to scold me and tell me that a chance is never last. But, unfortunately, they aren't here today, to give me the courage to stay strong and keep trying. I have already given so many auditions that now I have even lost the count. Anyways, let's see where my fate takes me. Right now, it's definitely asking me to go for dinner, unless I want Navya to again give me an earful for being late.

Good Night!

p.s. I forget to introduce you to myself. So I am Nandini Murthy, an ordinary girl with big dreams, an ambivert who desires to make a big name for herself and earn a lot of fame in the world of acting, to make her parents proud, and you, my dear diary, are the most special gift given to me by my bestfriend cum flatmate, Navya. From today, you hold the prestigious position to be my second secret-keeper, first is the one who gifted you to me."

Nandini shut her diary and kept it in her bedside drawer. She got up from the bed to move towards the dining table. She smiled on seeing the dining table already laid but the fact that her best friend was nowhere to be seen, instantly led to the disappearance of that upward curvature of her lips and resulted in joining of her eyebrows. But in the next moment, relief washed over her as she heard the sound of sizzling and clinking coming from the kitchen. A sharp pungent smell of spices hit her nostrils, confirming her suspicion that her missing best friend was cooking in the kitchen.

"Navya, look I am on time today", Nandini said with an ear to ear grin spreading across her face. After a few minutes, Navya came out with the dishes and set them on the table. Both of them had their dinner while discussing about their day. This was their everyday routine.

Navya had known Nandini since two years. They had met each other at 'Bakeria', the bakery owned by Navya. Well, Nandini loved to have brownies and Navya loved to bake them, and that is what made them click with each other in the very first meeting. Being orphans, both had faced the hardships of life since childhood. And this was enough to tie them in an unbreakable bond of friendship and trust.

Wishing each other good night, both the girls headed back to their respective rooms. Sleep was far away from Nandini's eyes as her mind was completely occupied by the thought of not being able to make it for this role, as well. Although, she was a firm believer of the saying that every cloud has a silver lining, but the thought of facing another rejection was making her weak and was silently breaking her heart. It is true that sometimes one needs hope to even be hopeful about hope and the former hope was the one which was missing from Nandini's life, at least at present. She was looking for a gleam in the dark and this was possible only if she got finalized for this role, her dream role. What made this role so special for her? Well, the opportunity of getting casted opposite the King of Bollywood, the one who was the sole inspiration of this crazy fangirl who dreamt with open eyes, made this role so glorious and special for her. Yes, she had auditioned to be the female lead opposite the superstar, Manik Malhotra.
