Zach's POV:
The sun wasn't up yet, but I sure was. It was either 4:30am or 5:00am, I never really check the time before I head out. I was on my way to my morning run. I made my way out the front door trying not to wake up my mom or my siblings.

Unfortunately I wasn't so successful, I heard some footsteps coming from behind me. It was my younger brother Billy.

"Is it really necessary for you to go out for a run at this time of day? On a Saturday?!" Billy asked me in a rather annoyed tone. For a 14 year old he spoke rather maturely. Don't let that fool you, he still has his immature moments.

"Sorry William, I was trying to be as quiet as possible, but it seems like nothing gets past you. If you must know I am actually conditioning for soccer season." I ruffled my brothers hair in a jokingly manner, but he quickly swatted my hand away.

"Come on Zach, you know I don't like going by my real name, and could you please stop treating me like a kid?" If he seemed annoyed before he was really annoyed now.
"You're still a kid, what are you talking about?" rolling his eyes at my comment he made his way back to his room. Oh God, what are we going to do with that kid.

I began my morning run like every other day, First I run to the shore. I liked running to that specific location to take a breather, because by the time I get there it's sunrise, and the view is simply breath taking.

After admiring the sunrise I continued my run. As I ran past an alley something shiny on the sidewalk caught my eye. I stopped to picked it up. It was a golden heart shaped locket. I looked around trying to see if there was any sign of the owner, but no one was around. I was tempted to open the locket to see what was inside it but decided not to. Lockets are usually something personal, and I didn't want to invade anyone's privacy. On the front of the locket there was a pink rose. When I turned it around it seemed to have something engraved on it. It read "Juliet". That must be the owners name.
I put the locket in my pocket and decided that I'd try to figure out what to do with it as soon as I finish my run.

When I finally made it back home it was probably around 7am, and I wasn't surprised to find that my mom wasn't home anymore. However I was surprised to see that my sister Alexa's car wasn't anywhere to be found. I guess she never made it back from the party last night. I also went to that party, but I didn't stick around too long because I seriously need to get ready for soccer season. I'm going to be team captain this year, and there was no way I was going to let the team down, because of a few drinks and some hot chicks. Wow, now that I'm actually starting to think about it, I kinda regret leaving.

No, come on Zach get it together! Soccer first, soccer will get you the scholarships to FSU!

I walked inside and everything was just like it was left before my run. Although the sea breeze makes the morning a little chilly, I was still covered in sweat. I made my way up to my room to hit the shower, hopefully by the time I get out Billy will be up so I can associate with someone. Mornings are kinda lonely when your the
only one up. Don't get me wrong, alone time is pure gold, but it's nice to have someone to talk to once in awhile.

Once I got out of the shower, I was greeted by a phone call. Before I even looked at the called I.D. on my phone, I already knew who it was. I was normally the kind of guy that prefers texting over talking on the phone, but there was one person on my contacts that prefers quite the opposite. My mom.

I picked up the phone a little confused that she's calling me while she's working.

"Hey mom, everything ok?"

"Oh yes sweetheart, everything is fine. I was just calling you, because a really tricky case came up early in the morning, so I don't think I'll be able to make it back for lunch. Your in charge Zach, so make sure my other children get fed, and keep them out of trouble, okay?"
