The Loser Effect

Chapter 2

Pulling up to the school is the most nerve-wracking thing I have ever felt. My chest is pounding, my hands are sweating, and I feel like running away.

I can do this. I can do this. I will do this.

"Okay kid, this is your stop. Have a great day, I love you, and relax! You're going to do great."

I turn to look away from the window and give her a slight smile.

"Okay mom. I love you too." I say as I open the car door and hop onto the sidewalk.

I look down at my feet as if I'm waiting for them to move on but they don't. I begin to debate whether or not to step back into the car, until a hear screeches coming from in front of me.

"SOPHIA OH MY GOD IS THAT YOU?!"

It's my friend, well my best friend and suddenly I feel great. I adjust my backpack on my shoulder and rush over to her.

"Hey man I've missed you so much" I say pulling her into a massive hug.

This girl is literally the best. Victoria has been my best friend since 6th grade and we have been connected at the hip ever since. She had been there for me through everything. She is more like my sister.

"I missed you too! I have been deprived of your sarcasm and witty jokes."

"Oh no, how did you even live?"

"I don't know exactly but I did"

"Hah you're too much!"

We lock arms and walk through the front doors to get to our lockers before we have to go to our first class.

"Ready for another long ass year in this place Sophia?" She says while I finally jam my locker open.

"Yeah I guess. I'm just glad we have a bunch of classes together this year not like last year! Ugh that sucked."

"Yeah I know, I know. Hey what's your first class again?"

"It's gym, remember? We both signed up together... right?"

"Oh shit, umm no."

"UGH great." I push my back against my locker once the bell rings.

"Sorry love, but I'll see you in a bit don't freak you'll be fine. Bye!"

She says with a small wave and with that she is already turning the corner.

And now I'm scared again.
It's okay Sophia, don't worry. Shit will be fine.. I think.
