Eve's POV
I stared at her in disbelief.
No.
She couldn't.
She shouldn't.
But then, again, I should have known she would."You what?! Amber! I hate Chemistry!"
"So do I. But apparently, because we're 'top' in class, it's a requirement to help out. Sorry, Eves. You're my partner."
Amber looked at me through her thick, dark red glasses.
My best friend wasn't like any other cliche best friend you see in movies or books or stuff like that.
She wasn't obnoxiously loud or aggressive. Or force me into evil, somehow, perfectly planned genius torture.
No, she was timid.
Very preserved, open-minded and a book lover. A nerd in other terms.
But MY nerd.
So back off people. She was asked out by quite a number of guys but she rejected them gently while I swoop in as her Princess Charming and save her.
I'm at not surprised.Despite her quiet personality, she looked very attractive.
Shoulder length, dark natural red hair pulled back into a ponytail, dark reddish clay colored, big eyes behind her glasses, mild freckles across her cheek bones, her name really suited her.
Frustration burst into every vein in my body as I fought back the urge to just walk up to my Chemistry teacher and tell her-
"Miss Eveline and Miss Amber, I expected you knowing better than to hassle in my class!"
Sending me a sympathetic smile, she patted my back and look back to the front of the class where Mr.Rale stood after apologizing.
"She has a question about the formula but I have explained it to her. I was a bit surprised since she couldn't understand the formula since you had explained so clearly."
Mr.Rale smiled a little and nodded his head at Amber.
Such a teacher's pet.
I absolutely dread Chemistry. I may be a good student but I only do it because if I failed Chemistry, I get an hour long lecture on dedication to studies and I'll have to redo the whole year.
Terror flushed me down and ruined my entire day.
It's couldn't get any worse.( A/N: that's always a red flag XD)
A hand shot up.
Everybody naturally turned to see who put his hand up.
He was a pale, skinny boy, almost anorexic. His taunt cheeks and eyes were almost hollow. He had dark black hair, wore a black zipped up leather jacket and black jeans.
He looked a bit dead at some point.
So familiar...
Uhm...
Name? Name name name name name? It's right there, out of my reach mocking me.....
"Vincent Bones. He's notorious for taking drugs and smoking. School hasn't caught him red handed for three years. They say he's a master at smuggling. He even has his own gang since last year."
Amber leaned in forward to whisper in my ear. I nodded slowly, curiosity burning.
I could feel the rusty wheels in my mind string to turn but I had to stop because they were making very loud creaking noises.
Headache.
But fuel was still boiling, and I couldn't stop thinking about how he looked so familiar.
"Yes, Mr.Vincent?"
You could actually just grab the amount of disgust from Mr Rale to Vincent and then just keep it in your pocket for later use.
A sly smirk played on Vincent's lips.
"Mr. Rale, is it true that your wife abandoned you for a simple juggler and went with a traveling circus, leaving you to raise a pitiful motherless daughter on your own?"
Everyone, including myself gasped and rushed mutters immediately spread across the room.
I was so taken back by Vincent's 'honesty', Amber had to tap on my shoulder to show me Mr.Rale's fuming red face.
Vincent had obviously touched a nerve in all of us.
Again, curiosity burned and I drowned in the constant whirling of my own thoughts.
Quickly scanning across the room, after snapping back into reality, my eyes landed on my target, Scott, who was already recording.
He sent me a quick wink and thumbs up while zooming in on Mr.Rale's bulging fierce eyes.
He knows me too well.
That video will be played during my marriage.
He yelled at Vincent for about an hour or so as we all kept recording or bit back our laughter.
It was rare to see someone to be able to push Mr.Rale's button like that.
However, I kept my thoughts on Vincent. He seemed so familiar.
Not from school but from where?
The bell rang and shook me out of my deep thoughts. Scott swung his arms around Amber and I once we reunited at the front door, leaving behind a still fuming Mr.Rale.
"Scott, you're going to make an impression of a player by doing this."
Amber advised Scott while gesturing to his arms. We looked out for Scott, didn't want him to be call names because despite, his size, he's really just a sensitive softie.
I would have agreed with Amber but my kind was still stuck on Vincent.
Where have I seen him?
Have we met?
Do I even know him?
Why am I feeling like a stalker asking these questions to myself?
Scott's voice flashed me back to reality that we were already walking down the wide, school corridors.
"That doesn't matter. As long as all the guys know you girls are mine and they'll leave you alone."
He smiled genuinely as if he was proud of his 'plan'. We ended up laughing anyways.
"Oh, that's my little Scott.
The one who are scared of clowns and Lego bricks. The one who is addicted to Apple pie. The one who couldn't sleep alone unless I accompanied him because he thought spiders might eat him at night if he didn't do his homework twelve years ago. The one who wet his bed when he was-"
"Okay, okay, I get it, Eves."
Amber giggled madly at the pink tint that flustered across Scott's friendly face.
"Oh and see you guys at Donut Palace, normal time!"
Once Amber vanished out of view, the memory of how I knew Vincent gushed back to my mind.
If he was who I remembered he was, doesn't that mean the Jerk is my.......
Oh dear god, no.
When I said that this day could not get any worse, I meant that as a rhetorical statement.
Not a challenge.
