Chapter 16 (NejiXTenten fight)

No ones POV

At once Neji and Tenten were engaging in hand to hand combat. Neither side backing down. Everyone was surprised that Tenten was keeping up with Neji in close combat cause shes a mid-range fighter and didn't really get close until necessary.

"I can't believe you are blocking all my blows Tenten. By now one or two would get through."

"Well when you have no chakra for 3 years, you kind of need to be fast."

Neji being a little irritated that none of his blows were going through even with the byakugan decided to back away and start again. As Neji was rushing at Tenten this time, Tenten opened her scroll and out came lots and lots of kunai and shuriken.

Neji stopped in his tracks and began collecting chakra around him. "8 trigrams palm rotation."

The defence was successful. When he looked over to Tenten he saw her putting back her scroll which means no weapons. He then rushed over to her once again.

In a quick second Tenten released a staff from her body seal and infused it with chakra to give it an extra kick. Like that they were back to close quarters. Neji with his palm attacks and Tenten with her staff blocking all of his blows.

"How can she be doing that. Even if she can block for some time, she has to break at some point." said Shikamaru.

"Well yes she will. No one can stop 100% of any attack but she has been with Hinata for 3 years fighting her everyday. So she knows how the gentle fist works and stuff. Just keep watching. Tenten is actually going to slip now. I can see it. After that see what happens." said Sakura.

Everyone focused back on the fight and just as Sakura had said, Tenten got hit with 5 palm strikes to the arms, leg and abdomen. She got pushed back and began coughing. Neji stood still in his stance ready for anything she can throw at him. You can never be too careful, especially after seeing Ino and Sai's fight.

"You got even better Neji. Looks like I have to up my game as well." said Tenten while standing to her full height. She reached into her back pocket and got out 3 kunai and paper bombs. She wrapped them on each kunai and held it in her hand.

"Lightning style lighting bolt." She encased the kunai's with a lightning justu and threw them at Neji at a very fast speed that had not been for the byakugan, Neji would have been hit head on.

Neji tumbled and rolled out of the way as fast as he could and stood back up huffing. "Looks like I got you too." said Tenten while having a mischievous smile.

Neji felt something wet on his cheek and touched it. It was blood. "A cut's not near as much damage as I inflicted on you with my palm strikes."

"Maybe not.......but this is." and in one swift motion pulled her right hand which had ninja wire. With no time to react, Neji was pulled to his knees and 2 paper bombs came at him. "8 trigrams air palm."

The kunai's were blown away and another attack shut down. "I knew you would do that. Now let's go Neji."

With that she rushed at Neji. Neji got ready in his gentle fist stance. They once again engaged in close combat but Tenten had ninja wire on Neji and would pull a little so his attacks were off a little.

Neji noticed this and wondered why his attacks were off. Sudden realization hit him that she still had the ninja wire on him. He thought he had already cut it before she came. She must have put another set in while I was busy. God how could I be so careless.

Tenten was getting anxious at this point. She did not have the best stamina and she knew she was going to be huffing and puffing soon. She decided to end this as fast as possible but still being efficient.

She backed away and closed her eyes and opened them again. Her eyes were glowing red with hints of white indicating she was using her telekinesis and spirt animals power. The tiger. She immediately scattered a bunch of kunai and shuriken along with focusing on Neji's pouch which had metal in it.

She smiled once again. She put her arm forward and all metal things went straight for Neji. Reacting quickly, Neji did a palm rotation. But as the weapons fell, they got picked up and flown over to Neji's dome again and again.

Neji was now having a hard time maintaining his rotation and he knew it would break in any second. But he had a plan. His rotation stopped and he got hit with kunai and shuriken, but that didn't stop him.

He got up from the ground and began doing hand signs. "Water style water dragon." A giant dragon made from water appeared and attacked Tenten in an instant.

Tenten not one to back down unleashed her own dragon made of fire with the help of the tiger to make it more powerful than Neji's. Both dragons fought for the win but neither side was backing down.

Both parties were pouring their chakra into it but as the water kept hitting Tenten and her getting it in her lungs, she remembered all the times she was almost drowned to death every time.

Never again. I will face this fear and win. She unleashed her animal spirt and her fire dragon got incased in a white armour. The dragon roared with power and attacked Neji's water dragon one last time until it evaporated because of the heat. Steam filled the arena and only Hinata and Neji were able to see clearly what was happening.

Tenten was huffing and puffing with sweat dripping off her. She had an animalistic look with her white chakra surrounding her. Neji was panting uncontrollably and had his hands on his knees trying to stand back up full height, his byakugan now off after seeing where Tenten was.

Tenten gathered all the chakra she had left in her right fist and ran at Neji full speed and punched him in the face. He got shot back away from the steam and hit the end of the arena. Now there was a life sized carter of Neji along with Sai's.

He fell down with a thump and looked like he was not about to get up. As the steam vanished, Lee came over and looked at Neji and then Tenten.

"Neji is unable to fight. The winner of this match is Tenten Hyuga!"

Everyone in the stands cheered except of course Sasuke cause he's too 'cool' to cheer. Tenten smiled ear to ear and was the happiest women ever. In all the years they have sparred or fought, this was the first time she had ever won against him.

She went up to him and started healing him with the help of her sprit animal. In a couple of minutes, Neji regained consciousness and looked at his surrounding. He sighed. "You won didn't you."

She nodded. "Well I can't say I'm happy about losing but great job Tenten Hyuga. You did amazing out there."

"Thanks Neji. You did great too."

With that the pair went up to the stands and sat down. "That was so cool Tenten. How did you give your dragon armour. I thought me and Sasuke were the only ones who could combine like that."

"Well you two are the only ones who tried. The dragon and armour were both made from my chakra so it worked."

"Ohhh. I get it. Hinata we have to try and see if we can have a combination attack as well other than the one we did on the moon." said Naruto excitingly.

"Ok Naruto but later. We still have to see one more fight and then fight ourselves." He nodded and sat back down.

"Ok. Will Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Uchiha please make their way to the arena!" yelled Lee.

Both stood up and went to the arena. They looked at each other with concentration in their eyes. Lee looked at them both and deemed them ready. "Ready.........and GO!"
