Amber's pov:
I check the time, 10:34, okay. That means it's 6 minutes before our big assembly thing. I don't really mind who I get put in a room with, as long as they are nice. Last year I had this girl who went to parties 24/7, and I could barely study. My grades suffered a lot. I really want to get them back on track, not only because it's good for my report, but so I can impress my parents.
My parents say they don't really mind what my grades are, as long as I am happy, but I can tell they prefer it when my grades are higher. Don't get me wrong though, my family is great, there's no doubt about that.Anyways, I'm getting off track. I check the time again, 10:37. Okay, time to go stand in a crowd of loud, noisy people again. The teachers should really plan it out better, so that we aren't just in a big bunch of squished humans.
We are walking in now, into the big huge hall in which our whole school events are held, and i suppose this does count as a event, doesn't it? I sit on the familar squeaky chairs, which creak slightly from how old they probably are. I sigh in content, and wait for it to begin.
Iris'Pov:
We are sat in the huge room, I'm sat near the front. The Principal gets up, and coughs to clear his throat. "So, school, today we have gathered to assign your roommates." I hear a collective groan coming from the students in front of him, knowing he was probably going to give his usual speech. "Uhm, i hope this year we can all be consi..." he drones on and on about random stuff no one will even remember, boring everyone, including me, half to death.
About half an hour of this went on, before I zoned back in because he said, "Anyways, now time for your room assignment!" I was kind of skeptical, I wanted to be excited but what if i get put with one of those dumb boys?
He went through lists and lists of names, but still mine hadn't been called yet. There only was 9 kids left, one of them being the girl i seemed to be bumping into a lot today, Amber. Finally, my name was called. "And second to last we have... Iris Neal and Amber Miyasaka!" the principal said in his fake happy voice. I internally cheered, it wasn't a boy AND it was a pretty girl??? Big win win.
Amber's Pov:
It had been an hour of me waiting for my name to be said, and it finally did. I've got paired with the girl I saw at the lockers earlier, and I mean I wasn't complaining. She, from what i could tell so far, was pretty nice, and she was beautiful. Wait- did i just call her beautiful? I mean she is, but i haven't thought that about a girl before- ever. I'm straight. Right? I have a boyfriend for crying out loud, of course I'm straight. Why am i even questioning this?
I realise i've just been sitting there whilst everyone was looking at me expectantly, I blushed and went forward to get the dorm room key, and me and the girl, who's name i have learned is Iris, walked out to go find it. "So- i guess we are being roomed together?" i say to her, my desperate attempt at a conversation. She merely nods, and i feel a little stupid. We walk the rest of the way in silence, both wanting to say something but not knowing what to say. We arrive at the door, she unlocks the door for me, which i find cute for no reason. Iris walks into the dorm first, and she lets out a gasp of joy. I peer round her shoulder, and wow it is big. It has the perfect window seats, and the cutest kitchen. I fell in love with it instantly, and I could tell Iris had too. "Woah" i said outloud, and Iris grinned at me. "It's so great, Isn't it?" she agreed with excitment in her voice.
