I remember Alex all the time. Never have I forgotten such a sweet face. Even though it has been 300 years since I have seen him and I would probably freak him out if I went to see him - I'm meant to be dead. It would have only been a year since I had died for him but for me it has been 300 years. Confused? I know I am. But I was told that once I has gotten to the age of 313 I would find out why. In the meantime, I sit and remember Alex. The way his hair fell over his eyes, his laugh, the way he would listen when I was upset and the way he would comfort me. But that's gone now. That was taken away from me when I died. Correction - when I was murdered. I came from a family of great tradition. It was normal to kill anyone who disobeyed tradition. And I did just that. I ignored the most basic and most important tradition of all time - When a traitor is present, he must be disposed of. And I got in the way of that. The traitor was Alex's brother who had stolen my necklace for his girlfriend. He was about to be finished off when I ran in front of the sword that would behead the older boy.

"Stop!" I yelled, throwing my hands into the air.

"Viki! Get out of the way! I don't want you to get hurt!" My Father yelled at me, over the voices of the crowd booing at me. I turned to the crowd: "SHUT IT!!!" Everyone looked at me, surprised. Turning back to my Father, I drew my sword.

"You want to kill him, huh? Well you'll have to kill me first."

"Excuse me?" My Father asked stupidly.

"I said, if you want to kill him -" I took a deep breath. "You're gonna have to kill me first." I saw him falter and hoped against hope that for once he would ignore his stupid traditions to save the life of his only daughter. But I was wrong.

"Fine." He finally said, coming to his desision. "If you insist in being treated like the vermin that this-" Here he pointed the sword at Alex's older brother. "Then you too will die." Raising the sword far above my head, I managed to quickly catch his eye.

"I thought you were different." I muttered to his before everything went black.
