Wedding preparations were well under way. They had decided on a spring wedding. Jonathan was to act as best man, Will would walk Joyce down the aisle and El was bridesmaid.
Hawkins had been quiet...too quiet?
The wedding was less than a month away and everything was running to plan.
One afternoon, Will was due to meet Hopper after school. Will waited but he didn't turn up. After about a half an hour Will decided to walk home. It was quiet when he walked through the door, no sign of anyone least of all Hopper. Will decided to call the station, Flo told Will that Hopper had left over an hour ago. She told Will not to worry and that she'd put out a call and track him down.
Will settled at the table and got on with homework, when that was completed, he grabbed some snacks and started drawing.
Around 6pm Joyce came home "sorry I'm late guys, Donald had me do stock check . I'll get on with dinner now". It was then that she realised only Will was listening. "Where is everyone?".
Will looked up "well, El is with Max she said she'd be home for dinner, not sure about Jonathan and Hopper".
Then the phone rang, Joyce answered. "Hello"
"Joyce its Flo"
"Hi Flo, Hop's not home yet, can I help at all?"
Flo explained that Hopper had been missing all afternoon, that she had tried to find him but he wasn't responding to the radio. Joyce finished the call with Flo and hung up. She sat down, looking worried. "What's wrong mom?" Will asked. "Its Hopper, he's...he's missing. Did he say where he was off to after het met you this afternoon?" "Well actually Mom, he didn't show up". Joyce looked up at her youngest son "what? Why didn't you tell me?". "I'm sorry Mom" said Will "I thought he was just caught up at the station".
"I need to go look for him, you wait here, El will be here soon". Will nodded and hugged Joyce. "I am sorry Mom". Joyce smiled at Will and got in her car.
Joyce drove around Hawkins, keeping an eye out for Hopper's truck. After about 20 minutes she shuddered at the sight before her. Callaghan and Powell were walking around Hopper's truck, it was overturned. Joyce jumped out of her car and ran over to them. "Oh my god...is he...". Callaghan put his hands on her shoulders "Joyce...calm down...its ok he's not in there, he must have decided to walk". This news did not help Joyce calm down. "So where is he...he could be hurt...we need to find him".
Callaghan assured her they'd be looking for him "let me take you home Joyce, Powell will bring you car over later, come on". Joyce reluctantly let Callaghan drive her home.
What was she going to say to the kids?
