25 years ago the Brazilian mafia had a daughter who was claimed to be dead
But was she ever really dead?

Erina on the other hand never had a family to s...
"One more push, love. Then we'll finally have our baby girl," Mateo—Rose's husband—said gently, trying to soothe her.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU BIG-HEADED DICK!" Rose screamed in agony.
This was their fourth time in the delivery room, and they'd already decided this would be their last child. Three boys... and now, at long last, a daughter.

Hours Later
Mateo sat quietly in the hospital room, holding his newborn daughter in his arms, doing his best not to cry. Rose had drifted off to sleep from exhaustion.
He carefully placed the baby girl in the hospital crib, gave her one last loving glance, then stepped into the hallway to find his sons, who had been waiting with their uncle.
"You guys wanna meet your sister?" Mateo asked.
The boys all nodded enthusiastically—except for Ezekiel, who didn't seem thrilled about another sibling. Still, they followed their father to the room where their mother now held the sleeping baby.
"Meet your sister... Erina Cia Santos," Mateo whispered, not wanting to wake the newborn.
"Can I hold her?" Ezekiel asked quietly, eyes cast down.
"Go sit on the chair," Mateo said.
Ezekiel darted to the seat and sat properly, hands ready, face serious. Mateo gently placed the baby in his arms.
Ezekiel stared down at her, studying every detail. Her cloudy blue eyes, just like their mother's. He felt a small pang of jealousy—he and his brothers had inherited their father's darker blue eyes.
"Put her back," Ezekiel grumbled, handing her to Mateo.
"Why don't you want her?" Mateo asked, chuckling as the other boys continued admiring their sister.
"No." he lied, crossing his arms in an attempt to look intimidating.
"And why is that" his mama — rose asked raising her eye brow.
"She's annoying and she will cry all the time" Ezekiel said, all babies do it was the simple fact he had never had a sister therefore he'd didn't know how protect her unlike his brothers who would semi able to protect themselves.
"You think you didn't" mateo— their father asked. "You were probably the worst, constantly crying about every little thing." He scoffed reminiscing
Ezekiel glared shaking his head, ignoring his father.
Ezekiel took one last look at his baby sister. "I promise I'll always try my best to protect you, Ladybug," he whispered.
Meanwhile, the brothers argued over who was the favorite.

Two Years Later
Two-year-old Erina waddled around the house, giggling as her brother chased her.
"Ladybug, get back here before Dad finds out you're awake!" he warned.
She froze mid-step. The last thing she wanted was to make her dad mad.
"No sleepy," she pouted, plopping onto the floor with her arms crossed.
"How about we go watch a movie with the others?" her brother offered.
Her eyes lit up. She nodded eagerly—there was nothing she loved more than time with her brothers.
He scooped her up and carried her into the family room where the rest of the boys were waiting. They all curled up on the L-shaped couch and put on Lilo & Stitch—Erina's favorite movie.
Halfway through the film, the entire group had dozed off, smiles still on their faces. In that moment, they felt whole. Complete.
But peace never lasts forever.

That Night
Rose and Mateo walked through the front door, expecting the usual chaos—shouting, laughing, toys everywhere.
But the house was silent.
Mateo felt a chill in his gut. Something was wrong.
They split up, searching the house room by room. One by one, each room was empty. Finally, they reached the last door—the family room.
Inside, they found their sons still on the couch... but surrounded by blood.
Panic set in.
They rushed to them, shaking them awake in fear.
Julien—the second oldest—was the first to stir. He sat up, wild-eyed, looking frantically around the room.
The other boys slowly woke, each one realizing their baby sister was missing.
Tears followed. Screams. Desperation.
Mateo pulled them all into his arms.
"Don't worry," he whispered fiercely. "We'll get her back. I promise."
Three Years Later
They sat in front of the small grave, their hearts heavy with grief, tears falling freely.
Each of them wished they could turn back time—to when she was born, to when her tiny hand first wrapped around their fingers, to the days her laughter filled the house.

Ezekiel cried the hardest.
He couldn't stop the guilt from eating him alive. He had made a promise. A simple, sacred promise whispered into the quiet of a hospital room:
"I'll always protect you, Ladybug."
But he hadn't.
And now she was gone.
He couldn't forgive himself—because in his heart, he believed it was his fault. He hadn't kept her safe. And he'd broken the only promise that ever truly mattered.
