I struggled against the small creature as I smashed against a wall. It was about the size of a tabby cat, but significantly heavier. I could vividly feel the creature's jagged claws scraping away at the skin on my face, and I screamed again.
Suddenly, I felt something prod my mind, like a stick poking a dead bird. The sensation was painful at first, but I felt myself push back against it. It wasn't intentional, but it happened.
The prodding became more persistent, and the creature on my face was gouging deeper cuts. The pain was surreal, and I felt myself slipping with the barrier in my mind. With one last strain, I picked up a trash bag, and slammed it against the creature's cranium. It immediately went limp, and crashed to the ground. I was breathing heavily, but in the midst of it all, I realised my brain felt free again.
My hands were entirely soaked with thick, dark liquid, and I couldn't see through the blood streaming down my face. I sank down the wall behind me, and held my face in my palms, wiping the blood from my eyes. With the amount of vision I had, I found the tabby sized creature laying three feet away from my knees.
The entire creature was crimson red, and it had horns protruding from it's scalp. It's back housed a pair of wings, and it's body had an almost humanoid shape. The fingers were tipped with large claws, and it's feet, in a similar fashion. The face, however, was very distorted. The nose was boney and had no flesh, and the eyes seemed like small black holes protruding from the sockets. The creature was overall, very disturbing.
While staring at the lump of flesh on the ground, I caught a glimpse of movement from the corner of my eye. I immediately turned my attention to the tall man escaping the shadows beside me. I gasped as I recognized him as the man from the cafe, with peculiar eyes.
"Riona! Are you alright?" The man said as he gasped and rushed over to me.
"Of course. It's but a scratch." I tried to smile, but my torn up face did not comply. I could see the man eyeing the creature beside me. He spoke up.
"Riona, did that demon do all this? They don't often attack regular citizens, but I guess after being imprisoned, they're a little hungry." The man casually asked. I gaped at him and stumbled on my words.
"Wait, demon?" I asked incredulously. He looked at me, and laughed.
"Well of course! Why else would Lucifer himself bother coming to the overworld?" He smiled charmingly. I sat in silence and stared, and Lucifer apparently got tired of smiling. "Look, I'll tell you what's going on when we get you patched up."
He grabbed the unconscious demon and picked me up with ease, before stepping back into the shadows.
