Burn

There is no light, there is only darkness in my world. But I know a paradise, I lived in it and got myself booted out. I remember the moment I fell, death is far better than the Fall. If I had another chance before the Fall I probably wold not have changed anything. My place might not be light and sunshine, but there is a bright side to my eternal darkness; the human world.

I never understood the reason that humans came to be, they are all ignorant animals that have no understanding of life. They believe that the civilization they have created is perfect.

A humans lifespan may be the longest one from all of the species on Earth, but it is by far not the longest. In the short lifespan that they have they waste countless years on flawed educational systems, mind numbing jobs,  and lets not forget about the children. Their lives are still miserable, even with all of the technologies they have spent years and years creating. They should have spent their efforts on learning how to live.

Mankind are bound by their own rules that they believe make them civilized, but in fact make them worse than the animals that run wild. Their world may be flawed, but a I can't help but be fascinated by their flaws and their stupidity, which is probably how I ended up in this predicament.

I've come to realize that humans are interning beings to associate with, though they are more like pets that entertain me. There are portals that can be created, it's a vortex that connects my world to the human world. Only upper level demons are able to create them, they can show up anywhere the user wants it to be. Tonight the portal takes me to Newark, the worst of the worst are here.

Of course, everyone that creates a portal knows not to make them noticeable to humans. I thought that the alley I picked would have been barren of them, but as I walk out I witness six guys surrounding a petite girl. She looks to be about five-foot-two, brown mousy hair scrunched up by the man directly in front of her taking a fist full of her hair. Barely any light shines in the alley, the only illumination that comes through comes from the full moon. Those are the only details I have before I'm noticed.

The man instantly breaks his hold on the girl and moves one step back. The girl makes a quick dash at the sudden freedom she is afforded. The six guys that in this world would probably be considered dangerous, but to me are mere pests turn to me. I look at them lazily and say, "You don't know how easy it would be to kill you." To which the guy that was holding the girls hair comes  steps out of their circle, he's probably the leader of this little group. His arm comes up with a gun and I notice a cross on his arm.

I make a note to make him suffer more than the other. He smirks, "Are you sure you should be saying that, fucker?" The honorable action would be to fight this guy with only my fists as weapons, but to be on equal footing with this guy and his little friend I should be able to use all of my abilities. I chuckle at my less than brilliant logic and take a fighter stance. "You really want to die today, don't ya fucker," the guys states rather than inquires. "If that's what you think I-," before I can finish, he's already pulled the trigger.

I look down at my ruined shirt, the remnants of the smashed bullet fall to the ground. Before anyone could react at the fact that I was still alive and unharmed, my middle finger and thumb made contact and a snap could be heard before the screaming started. My favorite way of removing pests is to burn them up, not only does that make it impossible for human authorities to find out about this little incident and I don't have to clean up after myself.

There's movement at the alleys opening, I look away from the ashes to see only a figure turning the corner and sprinting away. Damn it all to hell. How could this happen? Now I have to go on a hunt and find this person, whomever it is will have the unfortunate luck of dying tonight. It seems as though tonight is the night that I get to release all of my pent up frustration.
