AN: I told you I would write this, you know who you are.*winks.This is being edited so just read through. Sorry for the cliffhanger.
Jace circled the demon with his parabtai Alec up against his back. Isabelle was whipping a lower demons' lower areas "literally", and it was quite painful to watch. He glanced over at Clary to see how she was doing and smiled proudly. She had grown into her role as a Shadowhunter and was currently back-flipping off a wall. In his mind it was slowed down and she spun off the wall slowly while drawing her own dagger. He smirked remembering her expression when he handed her an intricately designed scabbard. She had drawn it out carefully,as if it was a crystal rose and she was afraid of damaging it's priceless petals. Clary had landed on the floor and her beautiful red ponytail swung forward around her shoulder than swished back and forth, like a pendulum, as she killed a demon in a young girls body. The body crumpled to the floor and Clary turned away as it turned to dust and floated away. That's my badass right there, Jace thought. Wait ,what was he thinking, they were related for fu'#! sake.
Satisfaction courses through Clary's veins as she stepped away from the demon's body and watched Jace. He stabbed the Ravener in the stomach. As he turned around to let Alec have a go he stared at Clary as if looking for approval. He caught her eye and Clary thought how vulnerable he looked in this moment. He never needs approval of anything he does from anyone else. Clary shook her head and her ponytail came and smacked her in the face. She stumbled backwards and heard a chuckle from Jace. "Very funny Fray." "Hey," Clary exclaimed indignantly, "You stole that off Simon!" Jace laughed, free and wild with his head back. His black, leather hood slipped off his head and his hair, flattened by it, fell out, all blonde with curls here and there. "So?", he questioned catching her look at her hair. "What?", he said, confronting her with the last resort of th he imaginatively bankrupt, "Is there blood in my lovely hair?" "No", she replied honestly, "It's still perfectly lovely." As Isabelle walked over to join Alec as he cut into the demon's throat, ending it's life, Jace glanced at her. His look was slightly questioning but then changed to its regular hardness as he shrugged it off.
Alec's jaw tightened as he saw how Jace looked at Clary. He wished that look was directed at him and he angrily brushed his fingers through his thick, dark hair.
Isabelle put a hand on her brother's shoulder to comfort him. "I think you should visit Magnus again tonight."
Alec's anger melted away, to be replaced with exasperation and reluctance and.. something else. "Oh, Glittery Boy?" "Alec!", Isabelle scolded l, sounding like a patronizing mother when her son had had too many sweets at a school party. "Fine." Alec sighed knowing what her reaction would be. "Really?Oh Alec I'm so happy for you, I'll cover for you." "Thanks.",he sighed, giving in to the idea that visiting a place with less one sided...tension would be better.
"So Clary," Jace mentally prepared himself for hurt and rejection as he struck up courage. Why was he scared of something as trivial as this? "What?" Clary turned to look him in the eye and the piercing emerald cut into him. This is why. "You remember the greenhouse thing?" "Yes.",She answered grumbling. He put it off. "Get changed and meet me in Central Park." Clary stared him down, looking for deceit or trickery in them. "No pink or brown beverages.",she stated, "And no red ones either!" Jace cracked a rare smile. "Alright," he agreed.
