The Spanish Queen

The story starts with a young princess, with a loving mother and absent father. Whether her father was working, with other women, fighting for his nation, she would never know. Of course, her father loved her and tried to be the best father he could. But alas he didn't try to hide his disappointment when it came to the young heiress' gender. Her father had a specific hatred towards his daughter and dearing wife. He hated the fact that all of his work would have to be inherited by a female. Luckily it was. The princess made her mark and statement to the whole nation, there were other independent Queens, why couldn't she be like them? Her mother made sure that everyone in court knew who'd be next in power. 

The young Princess Celeste Catalina De Franco was born on July 10th, 1546, to Charles V and Isabella I of Spain and Portugal. Although the princess had two elder brothers she didn't have any memories of them, they had died before she was even two. 

Spain and Portugal were very worried about the girl being the king's only living heir. They frowned upon the idea of such a young monarch, and female at that, to be ruling one of the worlds strongest empire. 

The King had become very ill and the privy council worried more than ever. They couldn't find any reasonable hier. It was minutes before the king had died, and, he had called out for the rightful heir to the throne. This made Isabella grow with concern, had the privy council found someone? While the council had been surprised since they had yet to find someone. The king had croaked and coughed blood, he quickly cleared his throat and began, "I stand before you all, and God as my witness. The rightful heir to the throne is my daughter, Celeste Catalina De Franco. There will be no feud, I trust my court is loyal enough to accept and respect my decision. Now please bring me my daughter." The nobles were shocked with the king's answer knowing his hatred for the thought of females being strong monarchs.

The young princess was soon brought through the doors. The king weakly smiled and began to talk lowly,"I know you will do our countries great justice, you are your fathers daughter." he chuckled a bit and more blood had seeped in the handkerchief. "Spain should be in forever debt to the new Queen, with her great beauty and legacy, she will never be forgotten.", and with one last hug from the Queen Mother and princess the King fluttered his eyes shut. The queen had tears falling from porcelain skin and began to sob. The new queen was taken to her mother's chambers, to rest. 

The queen wanted to mourn the loss of her beloved husband, but she knew that it couldn't last long. She's been a powerful woman her whole life, she's observant, she knows that the people at court were like lions and wolves. One wrong move and their reign could be over. The new Queen Mother fell asleep with teary eyes and her daughter in her arms.

 The next day the Queen Mother woke up stronger than ever, whether it was just a front, she knew that's how it had to be. The Queen brought her emotional shield and one of her most respectable dresses to the privy council meeting. Just because her husband named their daughter the heir doesn't mean the young queen was safe. 

Five short, but eventful, months after the King's death a new Queen was to be crowned. At two and a half the princess was finally crowned Queen of Spain, a nation would now lay on her shoulders.

 Long Live the Queen.

--Hey guys, I am republishing this on April 2, 2023... a whole year and a half later... BUT ITS FINE😜 So I've changed the OC's name from Aurora to Celeste, as I feel that too many of these stories have Aurora as their names... but hopefully this time around I'll even be able to assign face claimsss!! 🤞🏼
