 August 15, 1561

The coronation was beautiful. Filled with deep golds, reds, and even hints of blue.Flowers littered every part of the castle. It had been a difficult time for the family. Catherines youngest children were especially hurt. Aurora has tried to speak with Charles and Claude, Charles seemed very hurt where Claude barely cared. The day had started and the royal pair had already grown tired of it. Aurora woke to the feeling of an arm snake around her before any of them could let a word out Catherine entered, energetic as ever with a stampede of people behind her.

"You may rest later. We must get you two ready for the coronation. It's going to be extravagant" While Aurora was covering herself with the white sheets she looked at Catherine, "Catherine, I put everything in your hands trusting you wouldn't over do it like you, and my mother did for our wedding. I feel our wedding was enough" Catherine scoffed, "You are a Queen. Expect riches and power, don't set yourself low standards." Catherine walked closer and patted the bed indicating they had to get up. The couple groaned but they began to get ready. Aurora had many women surrounding her, some doing her hair, fixing her dress, adding makeup. She didn't even know what was happening but she let it happen.

She had a habit of getting lost in her thoughts a bit too often, when she slipped back into the habit she quickly slipped out when a young girl asked her a question. "Your Majesty, what crown would you like?" Aurora stared at the girl. She couldn't decide. Stood before her were two options, her spanish crown, or the english. She opted for the English crown, but there would be English dukes and lords, she couldn't have them feel threatened, not yet at least. Her French reign was too fresh, and with that statement she answered her question. "My Spanish one, thank you."

She stared at herself in the mirror as she watched the woman place a heavy gold crown on her freshly combed hair, Aurora took this time to acknowledge everything that has happened in the course of the last few months. She has just recently married the dauphin of France, and now is on her way to be crowned the french queen. The women finished after two hours. Aurora had a beautiful blue, white and gold dress. It was very heavy and took three girls to carry the train. But Aurora never looked more of a queen.

She was then guided towards the gates of the palace, here she was met with Louis. They couldn't converse but their smiles said more than a hundred words. The two walked towards the great Notre Dame. Hand in hand, they waved to people in the streets, cheering for the royal pair. Once arriving in the grand building Louis entered first. Aurora directly behind him, as her beloved husband was getting crowned she watched in awe. He was nervous, any one could tell, but Aurora could picture him as King. He would do France justice. "In the name of the lord, and power invested in me, you are the official and rightful King of France."

As Louis sat on the throne Aurora lifted herself from her kneeling position. A woman standing on the side lines then removed her spanish crown. She bowed her head and the bishop placed the french crown on her head. The priest spoke for a moment, blessing the new french queen, when he finished she stood and walked the steps leading to her throne. As she sat viewing the people of french court they all bowed, while repeating their saying, "Long Live The King. Long Live Louis IX. Long Live The Queen." Not in that order as many nobles were filled with excitement and spoke non stop.

The grand festivals spread out much longer than anyone would've thought. With the Queen's Spanish nobles and friends traveling long and far to congratulate her the parties did not hold back. With hours of music, food, entertainment, and dancing filling the halls and people of french court. Many royals from around the world delivered gifts and offerings to the new King and Queen of France. Many wished them a long reign, and healthy children. Which was expected.

Louis seemed happy, Aurora seemed happy, everyone seemed happy. Everything was going well. It seems their reign would start out well. With the queen dancing with her cousins and friends from Spain she too realized that the festivities were too much. In a couple of hours it would be dawn. She said her goodbyes and walked towards Louis, where he was standing with Mary and Francis. "Aurora, congratulations. We would've done it earlier but you looked busy." Francis joked with her, "Mary, Francis. Thank you. I appreciate it. Yes, it's been awhile since I've last seen them. It wasn't even sure I would even marry your brother, and now look. I'm the queen of France." Their conversations went on for another two hours, yet the pairs didn't want to stop. But they remembered they would all have a long day the next morning.
