Hermione Granger has always been known as the brightest witch of her age. From the time in third year when Sirius Black commented on her abilities after helping to rescue him from the fates of Azkaban, it became obvious that she was to be destined for great things.

Mcgonagall, Dumbledore, Sirius Black, The Daily Prophet. Many made this same comment. She was the golden girl, one-third of the golden trio.

Others would describe her as kind, caring, courageous, strong, and brave.

But little did those others know that Ronald Billius Weasley would cause all this built-up confidence to dissipate from the moment he took his first swing at her face, hitting her square in the jaw.

Ronald was her husband, the man she loved most in the world besides her father and Harry Potter. Why would he hit her in his drunken state in the middle of their shared bedroom during an argument?

To this question, she had no answer. He loved her. He didn't mean to. It was an accident.

This was what she told herself after the blow landed and she was curled up on the floor, tears streaming down her face while he crouched beside her and muttered endless apologies.

Her face ached and mostly of all, her heart.

Ronald leaned down and took her face in his hands, looking her in the eyes.

He said, "I'm so sorry Mione. I'm so fucking sorry."

The realization at what he did for the first time ever must have sobered him up, she thought. Instead of doing what she should have done in this very moment, which is to move out and divorce the piece of shit in front of her, she grabbed his hand from his face and kissed it, ignoring what her gut was telling her.

She said, "Don't worry about it Ronald. I'm okay. I'm fine. See, I'm okay."

She continued to pepper kisses across his knuckles and hand, the one that just hit her, causing a deep bruise to form on her cheekbone.

He grabbed her face in both his handsfor a moment and looked her in her eyes. They stared at each other for a moment before Ronald said, "I'll never do it again Mione. I love you, you know that right?"

She nodded at a loss for words. He looked relieved and kissed her. Her lips stood unresponding, not really wanting him to be touching her right now.

She had never been confused or had bad mood swings, but right now, she was pissed. How dare he tru to follow up with a gentle touch after punching her. She didn't know how to process this all at once. She hoped he wouldn't do it again. She hoped this didn't change anything. So for the time being, she willed herself to forget all about this incident and shove it to the back of her mind.

She remembered they were still kissing and begun to kiss him back. He loves her. She loves him. This wont happen again. It was a one time thing. She pulled back from him and moved to the bathroom to get ready for bed.
