hardest goodbye - (armin x reader)

ship to shore.

maybe in another lifetime, i could've been born something else. maybe a butterfly or maybe even a bird that gets to fly around the world, but i wasn't. instead, i was born in marley.

and despite what my brother may say, i hate living there for more reasons than i can count on my fingers, so i'll spare some time and not elaborate.

the cold wind blows through my hair, sending chills down my spine. i've always been told it's colder at sea but i never believed any of it, not until now anyway. a drop of rain falls onto the tip of my nose.

just my luck.

one drop turns into two and two turns into almost a hundred in one second. suddenly thunder crashes over my head, causing me to jump. i put the hood of my cloak over my head and hug my knees into my chest for warmth as rain continues to pour from the sky. the ship rocks slowly, causing some small objects to move back and forth across the floor. i suddenly hear a voice yell to the crew on the ship and i jump up from my corner. i slowly tip toe towards the bow of the ship and there it is.

paradis island. the land where my brother was taken captive, and where i'm going to find him.

the captain of the ship yells to the crew to drop the anchor and bring cargo onto the dock. i start to panic and think about where i should hide, since right now i'm ducked behind two large crates. i turn away from the sound and close my eyes, trying to think of what to do next.

"what are ya doing here miss?" a low and scratchy voice says from behind me. i turn around and see a plump man with a white beard and glasses wearing a blue suit and a blue cap. he has a wooden pipe in his mouth and he reeks of tobacco. i let out a nervous laugh before he grabs my ear and pulls me around the deck and onto the dock. he then releases his grip and throws me onto the landing.

"i'll only ask you this once. do ya have any money or are we goin to have to take it from ya?" he says angrily. i manage to sit up and reach into my pocket. i feel around for a second before pulling out six coins. he looks at me for a second before taking them from my hand and shooing me away. i stand on my feet and dust myself off, making sure i still have everything i brought with me. i then look around before i see two people who don't seem to be part of the ship's crew. one is a woman with brown hair in a ponytail and glasses, and next to her is a shorter man with almost black hair. i make eye contact with the man before ducking behind some crates.

shit, he definitely saw me. what now?

i hear footsteps approaching and put my hand over my mouth, trying not to make any noise. the footsteps stop and i look up to see the man glaring down at me.

"looks like there was a stowaway" he says in a deep voice. he looks in another direction before the woman runs over and looks down at me too.

"oh this isn't good, levi. what should we do with her?" the brunette woman asks. the man stays still for a moment before grabbing my ear and pulling me just like the ship captain did. he throws me away from the crates and releases his hand.

"state your name" he says forcefully.

"i'm y/n" i say quickly and slightly in fear, "i'm here to find my brother nicolo". the woman looks at the man in awe.

"wait, nicolo has a sister?" she says excitedly. i nod my head and sit onto my knees, "i'm sure we can find something for her to do, can't we?". there's a moment of silence but it feels so loud.

"so you're nicolo's sister, eh?" the shorter man asks.

"yes, i am" i respond. he sighs and thinks to himself for a moment.

"hange, take her to him. and restrain her quickly" he says to the woman. she nods and strides behind me before helping me up and holding both my hands behind my back. although this may seem like an unfortunate situation, i can't help but smile to myself.

i'm finally going to see him again.
