Chapter 14: Pyramid Race Part 2

Liu, Miyo and Sabriye, or rather Fighting, reached the second obstacle. There, they found a bunch of robotic balls floating in the air in a round tunnel. Fighting immediately felt dread creeping in her stomach. She knew what was going to happen here. Liu examined the surroundings of the obstacle and pulled out his Power Drill Gun, loading it and shot one of the floating balls, destroying it completely.

Liu blew away the smoke that was coming out of the gun. "Capsule Shot Test: a success!" Liu said with a smirk as he adjusted his glasses. Fighting smirked at him and said, "Now it's my turn." This confused Liu and Miyo. Just then, a vermilion glyph appeared through each of her wrists and what appeared next were a pair of gauntlets.

They looked similar to Yang Xiao Long's Ember Celica, but they were in Fighting's signature vermilion and her hands were covered too. (A/N: RWBY fans would know what I mean.) In other words, Sabriye took inspiration from Ember Celica, but made some changes to it to make the blasting gauntlets her own.

Liu and Miyo looked at the gauntlets in amazement. Fighting smirked at them before drawing her fist back and then forth, causing one of the bullets in her gauntlet to be shot at another one of the floating balls, causing it explode a little more than the one Liu shot at. Liu and Miyo looked at the mini explosion with their eyes widened and jaws dropped.

"Heh, it worked!" Fighting exclaimed triumphantly, causing the shocked duo to face her. "Now that we've done our test run, shall we?" Fighting asked, extending an arm towards the obstacle, despite knowing what their answer was going to be. Liu nodded in determination before jumping towards the obstacle with Fighting, leaving Miyo behind for a moment.

Just as Liu, Miyo and Fighting were moving across the obstacle as the parts of the tunnels moved in either clockwise or counter-clockwise slowly, the blue lights in the tunnel turned red and the tunnel started turning around more quickly. Liu and Fighting quickly decided to jump on the cubic pillars that were sticking out at the side of the tunnel.

However, the floating balls activated and went after Liu and Fighting. Noticing this, Liu used his Power Drill Gun, while Fighting used her gauntlets rapidly. As many floating balls exploded, Liu and Fighting smirked triumphantly. However, all of a sudden the turning of the tunnel stopped and more floating balls were summoned at the side of it.

Liu and Fighting stopped running and jumped back before one of the floating balls could be shot at them. They started shooting at them once more, but there were too many for Liu to handle as they were continuously summoned. Fighting knew this, so she grabbed Liu's arm and threw him away from where the balls could get to him, before going back to shoot at them once more, but more rapidly.

However, Murphy's Law had to mess with Fighting. Fighting kept drawing her fists back and forth, but no bullets came out of them. That was when she knew, "Shoot, out of ammo!" Before Fighting could do anything else, she felt something grab her by her waist and throw her back to where Liu was, while Miyo moved in front, drawing back her grappling hook, "Gotcha!"

"Are you okay?" Miyo asked Fighting. However, Fighting couldn't answer her question when looked up and noticed something, or rather some things, behind her. Eyes widening in horror, Fighting yelled, "MIYO, LOOK OUT!" Miyo looked behind her and her emerald eyes widened in the same manner as the remaining floating balls came at her and exploded, releasing a blood red gas.

A moment later, Liu came jumping out of the tunnel, letting out a loud battle cry and carrying Miyo in bridal style, while Fighting came out of the tunnel next by running with her nose and mouth closed, holding her breath. Liu and Sabriye, who reverted back, were coughing as Liu said, "What the heck was that? I'm losing all my energy."
