jack shifted in bed, a groan as the lights blinded him. he covered his eyes with a pillow, wanting to sleep more. his hair a mess above his head. the covers on his bed twisted, only halfway covering his body. the cold pennsylvania air hitting his upper half.

the woman in the corner in her room shifted her position. putting more pressure on her right leg as she leaned against a wall. her arms folded as she looked at him sternly.

"jack, wake up. it's time for school," her voice slightly aggresive as this was the third time he oversleep in a week.

"five more minutes," jack stated, voice deep and raspy. he turned laying on his stomach, face digging into the pillow.

"your going to be late. if you are late again, you lose allowance for a month." the woman walked away at that, it was his decision now.

jack muttered a few hateful words, turning back around. he squinted his eyes looking at the white ceiling. laying at a stand still for a few moments he sat up, getting out of bed.

beganing to get ready, he got changed. a hoodie, as he didn't feel up to looking nice, some blue jeans, as they had been easy and nice enough, and some black sneakers. he walked out of his room, grabbing his phone. into the bathroom he began to brush his teeth, his head down as he didn't feel like looking at himself this droopy morning.

once done he walked down to the kitchen, the pitter patter of his feet alerting the others. the bags under his eyes were prominent in the light of the kitchen. he ignored the others eating or washing dishes.

jack walked towards the brown pantry and opened it. scanning the shelves for a granola bar. once he found one he stuffed it in his pocket. walking towards his backpack. he pulled it on not looking towards the rest of his family.

"bye," he spoke in a rather dull tone. his voice echoing the silent house. not even hearing a goodbye in return.

his hand rested on the cold door handle as he twisted it open. he stepped out into the freezing temperatures, closing the door behind him. he leaned against the wooden door for a moment, taking a deep breath. his eyes closed as he just imagined a good day. opening them he saw his breath as it combined with the cold oxygen.

he looked around seeing the suburbs; he walked threw the street seeing peers and neighbors walking about. he heard calling of friends and just talking in general. the feeling of loneliness soon began to down him.

he sighed and looked at his phone, shuffling forward. only two notifications, one from a random number. the other from his only friend, that just so happened to live across the world.

jack took out his headphones that he kept in his bad, plugging them into his phone he opened spotify and began to play music. he put the earbuds in his ear and hummed to the music.

he clicked on the one from his friend, it was just a how are you text. jack response, lying. he told his friend that he was good and left it at that. then he opened to the other number.

he looked at the weird text. it stated that he would need to say certain words out loud. unluckily for him, jack happened to be reading the text to himself.

"Et ego silvam iter in tenebris, et ego occurrens oportet. Et fratres mei, vincere malum. Vires et strenuus." He mispronounced most of the words, but he was more intrigued by why this was a thing.

before he could take another step he began to feel nauseous. the world starting to spin. the world slowly becoming black. on his wrist, the birthmark, began to stink.

and eye, that's what the birthmark was. an eye. yet it hadn't been fully formed. but now, now it was. the lines showing burning into his skin.

the pain soon became unbearable, his sight gone, the talking fading, all his senses turning off. he collapsed, falling into a deep sleep. or at least that's what it seemed like.
