He stared at the sands at his feet, his head a mess. He couldn't hear the moaning coming from the tent anymore. They had long since died down.
"Promise me," she had said, "promise me that you would forever be faithful to me, just like I will be to you."
"Forever and always," he vowed, and watched her face light up with radiance.
Not three days later, he found her under a man, lips joint, arms wrapped around each other. He assumed that the man had caught her unprepared.
Looking back, he laughed at that memory in bitterness. The man-hating goddess of the hunt, one of the most agile being in the world, taken down by some middle-aged mortal? Impossible.
After his fist was quickly introduced to the man's face, he had asked her if she was alright. And the little goddess wore her mask perfectly. And every night after that, she would limp back into their tent at unholy hours, pretending to have a twisted ankle instead of coming clean about being screwed in every way possible.
The second time was during her three month long hunting trip. They had IMed every night and talked about her hunt and his life with the hunters. Until one night, the IMs just stopped. He waited a day, then another. Then finally after three weeks he decided to IM her. What he found made his body freeze over.
Instead of the serene wilderness he had expected to find, what appeared was a disco room with lights and music. And there she was, riding some teenager, lewd moans spilling from her lips. He was torn when she came back, whether to hug her and kiss her or to confront her. In the end, he merely greeted her like he normally would.
"Hey."
Her soft voice broke him out of his musing.
"Lady Artemis," he turned and replied, his face a blank sleet. She looked every bit the goddess, perfect body, impossible grace.
"Percy?" She frowned, "Are you alright? Has somthin-"
He cut her off, "I must request a resignation from my role as the guardian of the hunt."
Her eyes widened and her breath caught in shock, "W-what? Why?"
"The hunt is not a place I'd like to be."
"What do you mean?" She gasped, "The girls love you, I love yo-"
And he snapped.
"You love me?" He snarled, his visage contorting and a sneer overtaking his features, "If you loved me then why did you betray me, Artemis? Didn't you promise me, forever and always?"
"I-I-I don't know what you're talking about!" A lie, and they both knew it. With this, his rage grew.
"Don't lie to me!" He roared, akin to a beast, "I know what you did, during your hunting trips, during your late night hunts." She started shaking uncontrollably, "I know you have been whoring yourself out to the person with the biggest dick."
The waves crashed harder against the beach they were standing on and clouds began to gather in the sky. Then suddenly, the sea calmed and the shadows made by the clouds disappeared.
"I'm leaving." He said, his face revealing nothing, before beginning to walk towards their tent. And as he passed her she grabbed on to his arm.
"Please," she sobbed, "please don't go."
He shrugged her off and headed back towards their tent.
