Winter (Chapter 1)

INT. EMILY'S HOUSE - THE SAND CASTLE. LIVING ROOM

We see Bertha and their family all over the place, Emily, Rory, Lorelai and Luke are having dinner just before Christmas. It's a mid-size table made of wood, a medium size living room in white color. Some frames are in the wall and the Christmas decoration appears at the back along with the tree, next to Richard's Paint. Outside, everything looks snowy.

Emily:

(to Lorelai) Oh my god Lorelai, are you pregnant?

(To Luke) is she pregnant?

Luke:

Ummmm... Well, I, We...

Lorelai:

Mum, let me...

Emily:

(Interrupts) Isn't that risky at your age?

Lorelai:

Jinx, thanks mum. Nice way of telling me I'm old material!

Emily:

Well, you're not 20 anymore Lorelai.

Rory:

Listen, grandma...

Emily:

(to Lorelai) I can't believe you didn't tell me anything about it Lorelai! You always leave me out of your life.

Lorelai:

I'm not leaving you out of my life mom!

Emily:

(to Rory) and why didn't you tell me Rory? We've spoken several times the past few weeks and you never mentioned anything!

Lorelai:

Mum¡ I'm not...

Emily:

(Emily smiles) I can't believe it... A baby! Another grandchild!...We have to celebrate this... Bertha, will you bring some Champaign? Bertha?

Lorelai:

Mum, wait!

Emily:

Lorelai:

Emily:

What Lorelai?

Rory looks straight to Lorelai. She looks very anxious and overwhelmed.

Lorelai:

Luke doesn't like Champaign. Could you get him a beer, please?

Emily:

A beer, of course,. He got me a new grandchild, I can get him a bear! (Emily smiles and leans down to embraces Luke and Lorelai) Another Gilmore!

Luke:

(Leaning towards Lorelai) My last name is Danes...

Lorelai shakes her head.

Emily:

(Looking to Richards painting) Another Gilmore!

We hear a glass breaks in the kitchen.

Emily: (Cont'd)

Bertha, is everything alright? (Emily leaves the scene)
