HARRY'S POV
I sit on the dining table waiting for my mother to finish eating and drop me off for my first day at university. I have to admit, I'm scared. I'll be going into a new environment where there's people. I hate people. They frighten me. I quiver and shake when someone even glances towards me. How will I survive the next four years?
The only people I can actually talk to are my parents and older sister Gemma. She's very nice. I love her a lot. I don't like her boyfriend though. He makes fun of me.
"Come on baby, let's go. It's time for us to leave. Did you put your lunch box in your bag?" My mother's voice breaks me out of my thoughts.
I nod timidly and smooth out my pants before standing up. My mother adjusts the collar of my crisply ironed dress shirt and my glasses, before grabbing my hand and pulling me along towards her Honda Civic.
We reach the campus in about twenty minutes, making me gulp because of the fast building up anxiety.
"Have a nice day, sweetheart. I'll pick you up when you're done. I signed you up for a guide. It'll probably be one of the students here. They'll show you around and who knows, you might make a friend." My mother cheerily spoke, making me cringe.
I gave her a tight hug before getting out of the car and making my way to the front desk, asking them for my guide. The lady seated at the reception gave me an odd look before calling upon the guide. It was an attractive male who went by the name Zayn, as the elderly woman had called him.
"It's my second year going here. I'm studying art and music. Thought I'd earn some extra cash doing this guide thing. It's easy money, really." He spoke as we walked in the halls of the main campus. I liked Zayn. He was nice.
"So what's your name?" Shit. He probably expects me to talk.
"Uh, m-my n-name's H-Harry." He gave me the same look as the lady at the desk, before turning towards a blonde boy who was belting out his name, running our way.
The boy jumped on Zayn, like he hadn't seen him in ages, making me whimper. He was loud and laughed every few seconds. I didn't like him. He gave me anxiety.
When he turned to look at me, he slapped his hand on my back introducing himself as Niall, making me move closer to Zayn and bury my face in his shoulder.
Zayn looked bewildered but nonetheless rubbed my back soothingly telling Niall he'll catch up later.
Once the boy walked away but only after looking at me like I was an extra terrestrial being, Zayn pulled away from me asking if I was okay. I replied with a mumbled 'fine'.
We continued walking towards my first class and I held onto Zayn's t-shirt out of fear of getting lost. He patted my back and said he'd be back to take me to my next class. I whimpered yet again as I watched his muscular figure walk away from me. He was the only person I knew here. I was scared of being alone around new people. My worst nightmare was coming true.
I walked into the room, noticing how everyone dressed different than me. I guess their mother didn't buy their clothes for them. I made my way to an isolated corner and took out my notepad as the professor walked in.
As the professional looking woman began to introduce herself, a panting beauty ran in, apologising for her tardiness as she grabbed a seat right next to me.
"Hi, I'm Cadence." I whimpered as she spoke to me which caused her to frown.
"Are you okay?" She solicitously inspected. No. I just don't like people.
Assuming my lack of reply would motivate her to leave me be, I looked down at my notebook.
"So, what are you studying?" Guess she wasn't a quitter.
"Ms. Barnaby, it would be appreciated if you wouldn't create disturbance during my lecture." The professor spoke, frowning at the pretty girl next to me.
Much to my joy, Cadence stayed silent for the remainder of the class. I scribbled down notes as the lady spoke with grace and concluded the lesson with an assignment being given out, making all the students groan as if they were in complete agony.
I just picked up my bag and walked out, ignoring Cadence's shouts of my name, trying to find Zayn in the crowd to help save me from this hepped up goddess.
