The next day couldn't have come quicker for one excited student. Today was they day she would officially be part of the team. Kasumi can hardly remember how her morning went by before she was already on her way to school with her friends. Her mother would most likely be reprimanding her when she gets home later. That's if she can recall enough which the dark haired setter was praying not to happen. Shion was actually waiting for her at the front of her house making her blink in surprise.
"You've been messaging since 3 in the morning..." The redhead muttered incredulously when the shorter girl mentioned that she was surprised at being waited on. "How do you expect me to sleep through all those?"
"Oh, right." Kasumi let out a sheepish laugh at being called out like that.
They soon made it to the intersection where they were supposed to meet Hinata. The said boy chatted that he was going to school early to practice for an upcoming match he had. Kasumi was amazed by the way the boy was able to get in trouble during the first day of school and with the vice principal no less. She was starting to wonder if he naturally attracted bad luck or something. It was unreal how he could stay positive after all that happened. Kasumi knew she would have burst into tears if that ever happened to her. It was not that she was highly emotional. The girl just had a bad experience with plenty of eyes on her when she was not on court and also a bad case of stage fright. She had been slightly bullied in her junior high school for crying during class presentations.
"Morning, Hinata-kun!" They soon spotted the unexpected troublemaker after waiting for a while. He matched Kasumi's level of energy during mornings making the still grumpy redhead groan.
"Are you sure you're not long lost twins? Cousins?"
"Who knows? We might be... Can you handle the two of us during family gatherings?" Kasumi played along and laughed even louder as she saw the horror stricken face of the taller female.
"Am I supposed to feel insulted?" Poor Hinata was confused by the topic which Shion waved off with her hand making Kasumi explain to avoid misunderstanding.
"Don't be. Yan actually loves us~!" Kasumi enjoys teasing the other girl since Shion always makes the most interesting expressions. Like the face she's making right now, a mix of begrudging agreement and disgust.
"L-love?" The dark haired girl studied Hinata as his face erupted in a flush. A mischievous glint passed through her eyes when she made a connection. Seems like she wouldn't run out of entertainment this year.
"Don't even think about it. You'll scare the guy away." Kasumi's foot slipped from one of the pedals making her let out a hiss in pain as her shin met the said pedal.
"I'm not that bad!" The redhead ignored the protest pushing on ahead the rest of them. Hinata and Kasumi struggled to catch up and it soon became a race to see who can reach school first. Their shouts and laughter echoed down the road startling some people they passed by.
"I win!" Shion jumped off her bike skid to a stop when she reached the gates.
"No fair! You had a head start!" The girls discovered that Hinata had a really competitive bone in his body. His stamina was impressive as well, being able to keep up with national level athletes was nothing to scoff at despite the differences in gender. Kasumi made sure to train hard in that aspect so she wouldn't be left behind in women's or men's volleyball.
"Yeah! Cheater!" Kasumi's face was in a full blown pout at this point. She had to admit, she's competitive too, maybe even more than Hinata.
"Did I? I don't remember, but I do remember kicking your butts in that race~!"
"You-! Just you wait!" Hinata was puffing up like a bird getting ready to fight.
