She stepped out into the void of darkness that spread for miles. She could hear the crickets and all outside noises, just chirping away into the darkness as she came upon the gravel road. She looked at the night sky and what looked to be just billions of stars, and gazes at the few constellations she could see. Felina almost stumbled back, she was getting a bit dizzy at watching so many stars in the distant sky. She heard footsteps, and then turned around to realize it was Conner.
"What are you doing out here so late Fefi?" He came off the porch and stepped into the gravel as he peered up into the starry night sky to meet the same view Felina was staring at. Fefi was Felina's nick name, it came on pretty naturally as Conner teased her with it a lot. Being in a relationship for nearly four years he had plenty of nicknames for her, but Fefi was his favorite.
She dismissed his presence and continued to look up. "It's just... been an eventful day." She sighed, and looked back down at the gravel.
He looked at her and realized she still had a small piece of ham on the side of her lip, and wiped it off with his thumb. "You aren't the most elegant eater, you know that?" He teased.
"Well, I'm not sure anybody is an 'elegant eater', but you sure are one to talk with such 'skills' with fingers and ribs." She teased back, and let out a small giggle of laughter. She looked at him sideways with a smile on her face, her brown hair all laid on her opposite shoulder. She leaned in, and kissed him for a few seconds then pulled away.
They both turned around and went back inside to a see that most of the guests had left, and a few stayed back to help clean. Earlier that week, they planned to host this party in celebration of Felina's graduation. She was a year younger than her boyfriend, Conner, but he stayed back an extra year to graduate with Felina. She was especially excited Uncle Grayson was going to be there, because he was a very fun, nice guy. He was old, and wasn't related to their family, but he was an extremely laid-back, I wanna drink and just have-fun, kinda guy. He was always at their parties and celebrations and was the best-man around. It was also his birthday in around two weeks, so some guests brought gifts and things for him as well.
Once all the mess was cleaned up, Felina and Conner waved the other guests goodbye and went to their bedroom to get ready for bed. Felina had her teeth brushed, and was already in a tank-top and shorts when Conner rushed into the bathroom with a panicked look on his face. To Felina's surprise, he was putting his jeans back on to leave the house.
"Felina!" He struggled as he pulled up his jeans. "Felina, Uncle Grayson got into a car accident with another car, they got the licence plate." He gasped, as he zipped up his pants. "They are rushing him to the hospital now. They said- they-" He started shuddering.
"Calm down! Calm down!" Felina hushed him. She had grabbed her jacked and zipped it up, grabbing Conner's coat as well. "Okay, what did they say?" She said in a calm manner, while she hurriedly zipped his coat up.
Conner took a deep breath and held in his tears. "They don't think he will make it."
