As my eyes shot open, the fact that someone was trying to shake me away came to mind. I frantically looked around the room and soon came to notice it was covered in thick smoke. I looked up to see who had been the person who had so violently shaken me awake. It was my mom and she was moving her mouth but my brain wasn't registering what she was saying.

"..., ...GAN, MEGAN!!!" I shuffle backwards when she shouts at my face. What was going on? My mom started to pull me up and out of bed. I glanced over at my clock. It read 11:30. That couldn't be right. There was definetly something wrong. I tried to take a deep breath to try to clear my thoughts but all I achieved was getting smoke into my lungs. When I felt my brain connect two and two together I thought, there's a fire.

Sound came back slowly and I could already hear the roaring sound of the flames coming from my brother's bedroom. What had he done?!  stood up straight making it easier for my mom since she'd recently had an operation in her back she was in no possition to be dragging me around.

I sprinted down the stairs but was met with a thick wall of darkness. I backed up and went on my knees and turned round. I started crawling down the  stairs and tried the door. Locked. Shit. I knew there would be some keys in the kitchen but there was a second fire building up in there. My dad was no where in sight and my mom had dissapeared. How could I have been so carless to leave my mother behind?! I tried to go back up the stairs but my eyes were now sore from all the smoke. They started to water. I could barely breathe and I started to break down into a coghing histeric.

I fell on the floor and covered my mouth, slobbering all over it not succeding in any way to empty my lungs off all the smoke inside them. I closed my eyes since I couldn't stand the smoke anymore and before I knew what was happening, everything went dark.

A soft breeze brushed past my face and I breathed in the pure fresh air. After what I had experienced it felt like a dream come true to be breathing it in again. WAIT. Wasn't I choking from fire smoke just a second ago?!

sat up and looked at my surroundings. I was back in that heavenly place. The grass swaying softly as the wind made its way through it like going through a maze. I inhaled one more time, allowing that heavenly feeling snake its way through my nostrils to the very core of my lungs.

I had to be dead.

If this was what heaven was like then even if I was alone, I wouldn't mind. I stood up and looked around once more.

I looked down at myself and realised I was wearing a pure white dress that went down to just above my knees. In truth, even though I always thought that everything didn't look good on me, this did. The soft silk clinged to me in the most comfortable way which wasn't neither too tight nor too loose. I was barefoot and boy was I glad I was. I scrunched up my toes grabbing strings of grass as I did on purpose, feeling the soft strands slowly massage my feet.

I sweet scent crept its way into my nose. It was the most captivating scent I had ever smelt in my life. I closed my eyes and looked up to the sky concentrating and trying to pin point where it was coming from. I brought my head back down and turned around. I squinted my eyes and was able to make out a small figure making its way to me.

Maybe it's an angel coming to talk to me or somthing... The figure kept walking towards me and in turn, I towards it. Slowly, very slowly, it started coming into focus and I tried to make out what it was. It took a step closer. No, WHO it was.

Suddenly, something wrapped itself around my waist and mouth, not permiting me to even scream. I started panicking so I thrashed around but to no avail. This thing, whatever it was had me trapped under its grip very firmly.

MY vision started going dark yet again which just caused me to panick even more. Wasn't I aready dead? Did this mean I was being dragged down to hell? 'you're not dead Megan' said a deep raspy voice. It sounded like a man's voice and I loosened up, plunging into darkness yet again.

Beep

Beep

Beep

Beep

I moaned softly as the sound of a beeping machine reached my ears. Why couldn't I just rest in peace? Wait, no, I didn't want to jinx it. My eyes opened but I started squinting straight away as the bright light coming from the ceiling half blinded me.

Just like I had done in the meadow, I took in every detail of my surroundings from the closed curtains blocking my view from outside to the needle protruding from my arm...

NEEDLE PROTRUDING FROM MY ARM???!!!

I gave a loud pitched scream that most likely would have wakened anyone in a ten mile radius. Loud footsteps sounded from the hallway that the door on the opposite side of the window led to. The door flew open and a man wearing a lab coat strode in and grabbed my hand before I could make any attempt at getting the needle out.

"Miss, it's ok. You were able to make it out moslty unscathed. Nothing too major was damaged." I stared at him with my mouth hanging open in awe. What did he mean?

If someone could describe how it felt to be hit by a brick without it ever happening to them then I sure could describe how everything dawned on me all at once.

I had been grieving over my lost opportunity and then I suddenly fell asleep and was having a really nice dream, then I woke up but there was a massive fire and I fainted causing me to return to my previous unfinished dream. And now I was here in a hospital bed with a freaking needle stuck to my arm!

Oblivious to the man's presence still in the room, I led back down and whispered "how long have I been out?" Dr. Stanford, (yes I read his name tag) realising I was asking him took a deep breath and sighed heavily. About a day and a half
