Chapter 15: ランナウェイズ (Runaways)

A common misconception and the pathetic stares of the foolish. As prideful and selfish they may be, I see no absolute point in showing grace to such enticing attributes of this so-called "monkey race."

"Hmmph! What a delight it is to show such a devilish lifestyle!" I stated as the bitter breeze of the evening blew my hair into several directions.

Crying, my younger sister Mika whimpered in the moonlight as the fragile corpse of the once breathing Takeru fell silent as it lay there at her feet.

I wanted oh so badly to comfort her. However, I highly believe that she might have taken such advice as somewhat sympathetic or perhaps; even offensive.

She was obviously not the least bit interested in agreeing with my cruel lifestyle ideals.

First, it had been the weak Naoki, and then the pathetic wimp Takeru; her two best friends were laid to rest.

"Mika," I finally managed to respond after what had appeared to be a minimum of five minutes of utter silence.

Mika's dark-brown eyes glimpsed back up at me, overflowing with approximately a pint of teardrops. At any moment, I thought that this container of tears would turn into a sudden flash flood of inner sorrow.

"Gomen," was all I could say there after. "We weren't able to save him from Suzuki's wrath." It was then and there that my body decided to pull her into a gingerly-given hug upon mere male instinct.

I mean, I am her older brother, correct? So, why is this emotion I have for her considered such a unforgivable sin?

Incestuous, forbidden, immoral, highly shunned from society. Why must a love like this remain Platonic?

I could barely take it any longer! I needed to confess! I definitely needed to tell her such precise descriptions of my utmost emotions I had for such a beautiful creature.

"Mika," I began once more. "Aishiteru!"

It was then that Mika stared back up at me. "Ruka," she started.

Slowly, but surely, we embraced and gently...

I pulled her swiftly to nothing but a mere kiss.
