It was early morning, around 6:00 AM on November 1st, and I had just gotten out of my warm, comfortable bed. I stood up and stretched, yawning rather loudly. I climbed down from my bunk bed, creeping down the ladder as quietly as I could. If I woke my sister up, she would be in a murderous mood. Out of nowhere, I tripped down the ladder

"Scarlett? What happened? Why did you wake me up? Just let me sleep, damnit!" Chloe was almost yelling at this point. I panicked, knowing I would be in deep trouble if she got any louder.

"Shhhh! You're going to wake somebody else up, you lunatic!" I whispered in a hushed, panicked mutter, "and if that happens it's both our heads on the line!" I shot her a deadly glare, hoping she got the message.

"Whatever. Just turn off the flipping lights when you leave, will you; I still need 2 more hours of sleep," she shot back with a bite. I rolled my eyes, grabbed my uniform, and left the room.

As I went to the bathroom to start getting ready, I debated with myself over when to brush my teeth while I changed out of my pyjamas. Should I do it before breakfast, and save time, or after breakfast, and have fresher breath? In the end, I decided to wait until I had finished eating my meal. I changed into my uniform in the downstairs bathroom. After I had finished this, I went upstairs to make my lunch, wondering about what would be in the fridge that morning.

When I arrived in the kitchen, I immediately went for the fridge. When I opened it, I saw one of my favourite things: hard-boiled eggs. I wasted no time in peeling two of them, and sliced them into cubes, added mayonnaise and pickles, and made an egg sandwich.

"I know you're sleeping, mom, but thank you, thank you thank you," I muttered to myself under my breath. I was smiling to myself like an idiot, but we hadn't had boiled eggs for months. After I finished making my sandwich, I went to look for other snacks. I ended up with crackers and fruit snacks.

After I had finished getting my lunch, I went in search of breakfast. My options were either a bagel, a bowl of cheerios, or a piece of peanut butter toast. I ended up choosing the bowl of cheerios, and putting blueberries and diced strawberries in it, since I was craving something sweeter. As I was eating my cereal, I felt something strange and tingly along my upper left gums. I put my spoon down and felt around the area with my tongue. There was nothing there. I shrugged it off and finished my breakfast.

After I finished eating my breakfast, I went into my parent's room to grab mine and my brother's laptops as quietly as I could. It didn't work. I stepped on the one floorboard that squeaked unlike any other, and a long, low creak echoed throughout the master bedroom. My mom was still sound asleep, but my dad had woken up.

"Wh... what's going on? Who is it?" my dad groaned through a yawn.

"It's Scarlett; go back to sleep, dad," I whispered back at him. "I'm just grabbing the Chromebooks."I hoped he didn't get upset, seeing as it was only 6:30 AM at this point.

It didn't work. "Scarlett, why do you need your laptop at..." he checked the time, "6:30 in the morning? What could you possibly have to do?" he questioned, looking mildly irritated in the dark.

"It's fine, I just have to finish my schoolwork. Last night you said I could do it now, since it was too late then, " I reminded him.

"Whffff... fine, go do your homework. I don't care. Just let me sleep, alright?" he complained, dropping his arm over his eyes.

Leaving the pale purple room, I went back into the kitchen and grabbed my earbuds and my lunch kit off the counter in the center.

"Like father, like daughter, huh, Chloe?" I muttered under my breath, in case my dad had still been awake. Thankfully, he had fallen back asleep within the thirty seconds in which I had left his bedroom.
