Jieun was walking down that same road. She soon reached the beach and to her surprise, she found that a boat had arrived. It was carefully tied to a pole that had been stuck to the sand and also pulled up onto the land for double safety.
"Oh hi there!" Someone called from behind her. She turned around to find a boy. He seemed a few years older than her. Behind him, was another boy. They both had black hair and looked really friendly. She smiled at them.
"Hi!" She repeated.
"What's your name?" The one who had not spoken yet asked her.
"Jieun, Park Jieun." She looked behind her at the boat. "Will you help me leave this island?"
They both looked at each other. "If you answer one question correctly, sure!"
"Hmm? Wouldn't hurt to try I guess!"
"If you could choose one fruit from the tree, which would it be?"
"Grapes, I think. I love the flavor. Why?"
The boys smiled at her. "We're very sorry but you can't leave yet, we'll come back again later, okay?"
The boys disappeared into thin air. Soon, she was surrounded by dark clouds, and the trees became scary. Out of the woods came the same strange lady from before. "I guess you're mine then." The she-monster smirked. It then pulled Jieun up by the collar and dragged her to her fortress.
The world became blurry and Jieun opened her eyes.
She panicked to find herself tucked away in a strange bed. The room was dark. She tried not to make a sound as she got up. She carefully took one step. Suddenly, the fireplace in front of her lit up, then a note fluttered down from nowhere.
It read: "Calm down, that was just a nightmare, but next time, choose wisely, okay? Pay attention!"
She sighed. It was just a nightmare. She took out her diary to put in the note along with the rest of them. She opened up a fresh page. Jieun felt the book be pulled from her hands. It was as if an invisible man had taken it. A pen was lifted from the bedside desk and Jieun watched in awe as the invisible hand wrote a long letter for her.
When he was done, he capped the pen and put it right where it was before. He placed the book on Jieun' lap. She could almost feel him bowing before he left the room, not forgetting to close the door after him. It was as if the wind had become possessed.
She quickly closed her book and followed him. It wasn't difficult as she could see the path move along with him. The flowers swayed as he passed. The trees shook and the beautiful scent was spread across the lands. Sometimes, it seemed that he would stop for her to catch up.
In the end, he led her to a gazebo. It was an octagon in shape. It had a minty green roof set atop eight white pillars. Voile curtains were hanging from each side and were tied to either side of the pillars. When Jieun stepped into the marbled floor, he walked over to each and untied them all. It was just the two of them. He picked up the violin that was sitting on the floor and began to play. It was the most beautiful song she had ever heard, and somehow, it wasn't hard to believe that his voice would be even sweeter, although she had never heard it.
She recognized the song. It was the lullaby she heard before, the one that lured her to the house and the one she fell asleep to. Her unhealthy obsession with classical music finally helped her put a name to it. It was Vivaldi's spring, the first movement.
