Chapter 7 - Gems of Reality

(Context - Episode 13)

Spring's POV, just before the episode

Fan slowly pulled me towards the camera by the fur on my chest. "I feel like I'm just a bit too big for this, Fan" I whimpered, but he shook his head and chuckles. "Your perfect for this, now just uh... sit here" Fan lets go of my fur once I'm next to an stool that had his laptop and a headband on it, I slowly sat down. I was so much bigger than him now, it just felt weird, but normal at the same time. "Okay perfect!" Fan barks excitedly, then he went and adjusted the camera. "Ready? .... And, Start!" He started recording and adjusted the camera again. He took a few steps back and then spoke, "Last Time on Inanimate Insanity! Hang on..." Fan tries to put on a headband, but fails. It's too tight and basically closes him. "WHAT THE HECK, SPRING STOP THE RECORDING!" Quickly, I hopped over to the camera and tapped it, which stopped the recording but the camera fell off the stool. "Oops"

"Let's try that again" Fan grumbles, now with the headband on his arm.  "Lift your paw real quick" he asks, and I lift my front paw. He gently puts the headband on my leg and then picks up the camera. He places it back on the stool and continues the recording while I mess with the headband. Fan coughs and then he continued, "We were suddenly," He picks up a paper with doodles of all the remaining contestants on it, "down to the final 8!" He then notices that Marshmallow was on the paper. "Oh" He rips the corner off the paper. "While Test Tube and  Lightbulb went off on their B-plot, Paintbrush tried to paint with a separate brush for some reason, and got a zero! Whoa! Truly anything can happen! Haha... uh, And that's what you missed on Inanimate Insanity!" The camera turns off half way through him saying 'Insanity'. His ears fell back. "I think it cut off at the end there, Fan" I bark and he sighs, "I noticed"

Minutes later, before the challenge, Fan's POV

I'm just typing on a laptop, updating my blog like usual. Spring is laying half way on the table, she's too big to completely lay on it. My ear flicks to the sounds of approaching footsteps in the grass. Whoever was approaching shuts my laptop. It was Knife. He gestures towards the trees the rising sun. "Ah, so you think I'm not paying attention? Well, well look what just happened earlier today!" I point at a green feather on the table. It was Spring's and it came off of her wing. "Yeah, yeah. Did you notice that?" I growled. Knife stares questioningly, "What? Did you drop her?" Spring suddenly looked offended, "Dropped me?!". I huffed, and then mutter, "I can't even hold her anymore" then I looked back at Knife and quickly responded, "No! It- it shows the world's changing and- and we should embrace that and-", Baseball suddenly walks in and cuts me off, "We all get dropped sooner or later." I open my laptop again and slowly start typing, "Reeeeal jeeb-wheezer, this one." Baseball suddenly pushes Spring over and slams the Laptop closed on my hand, "Ah!"

Start of the Contest, Spring's POV

I was too busy messing with the feather that came off my wing to realize that the challenge was being announced. All I heard was mining gems in a cave to get immunity or something. "Spring, do you want to join us?" I flinched when I heard Fan's voice calling for me. I looked up to see Fan standing with Suitcase, and he was waving at me. I gently stood up and left the feather behind, running over to the two of them. Suitcase stared up at me nervously, reminding me of how big I was again. "Come on!" Fan barked and hopped towards the cave entrance. I tilted my head, "Not sure I can fit in the cave, Fan". He chuckled, "Just try!" He and Suitcase walked deeper into the cave, and slowly I followed. I just barely fit, having to put my head down to fit. "Oh, well I guess I do fit... just barely" I heard Fan laugh from down the path. As we make our way into the cave, Fan pauses at a big opening. "Perfect!" He yips excitedly and my ears flick happily. He is such a sweet guy, it makes me wonder what he was doing before I hatched, when I was still an egg.
