This book is not canon to Naruto, nor does it completely follow the Naruto lore. It is my own AU.
AU:
After Kakashi killed Rin, Obito went back to Madara, but still didn't completely agree with him. He was sent by Madara to unleash the 9-tails, but once there he didn't go through with the plan. The 9-tail seal broke during the birth, so Naruto was still turned into the jinchuriki and his parents still died. Because he failed his mission, Madara threatened Obito into creating and joining the Akatsuki (no one knows that it was him, though). Four years before the first chapter is set, Obito and Kakashi ran into each other. After explaining everything to Kakashi, Kakashi got the seal over Obito's heart removed and Obito becomes a shinobi of the Hidden Leaf. Only the Hogake and Kakashi know however, and Obito stays in the Akatsuki as a spy for the Hidden Leaf.
