Head Case(Kai Anderson x Reader Fanfic)

*Beep*Beep*Beep* Y/n's alarm rung extremely loudly. She was a heavy sleeper so the alarm had to be as loud as possible. She jumped out of bed and excitedly ran to get in the shower. Today was her first day at her dream job. She got in her car and rushed to work as if she were late. Y/n entered the building at 8:30 AM, 30 minutes early. Her supervisor and mentor wasn't there yet so she sat on a bench in the lobby and waited patiently. Soon, he arrived. "Detective Jack Samuels" he introduced himself. "Y/n" Y/n eagerly responded giving him a firm hamdshake. "Sorry I was late, you started on the perfect day.  A young couple was murdered last night and their bodies were stuffed into coffins." he said rather calmly. "You get to do all my bitch work for the case, lucky you." he said with a fake smile on his face. "What do you mean 'bitch work'? Do I not get to visit the scene and help solve a crime? You know, my job." Y/n said, but this only caused Det Samuels to laugh. "Solve a crime? You're not solving anything. This killer was clean. No prints, no hair, no blood, no footprints, no witnesses. Nothing. Only evidence was a weird smiley face painted on the wall with the victim's blood."

Y/n spent the day following  Det Samuels around, getting his coffee, filing his paperwork, scheduling his meetings. She was practically his assistant. "Detective Samuels" she spoke up on her way out at the end of the day. "When will I get to do the real stuff. I came here to be a detective, not an assistant." "Watch it" Det Samuels sharply replied. "I gave you this job and I can take it away in an instant." Y/n was terrified. He spoke with such power and she new he could crush her dreams in an instant. She forced herself not to cry and exited the building, getting in her car and driving home.

When Y/n entered her home, she picked up her phone and called Kai, holding back tears. "Kai? Ar-are you busy?" she asked. He was, but he couldn't tell her that. If he did, and she asked what he was doing, it was over. "Uh no, I'm not busy. Are you okay? You sound like you've been crying." Kai answered sounding concerned. "Not really, I just had a really shitty day. My new boss is an asshole and-" She was cut off by the sound of the doorbell. Y/n walked over and answered the door, it was Kai. "Hey, what's going on?" He asked. Y/n immediately burst into tears and practically fell into Kai's arms. "I'm here, don't worry, everything is gonna be okay." Kai said. He lifted Y/n up and brought her over to the couch. Kai tried to ask her what was wrong but he could't understand her over her sobbing. He laid down on the couch and Y/n laid on his chest. He gave her a soft kiss on the head and told her "Everything is going to be okay, I'll make sure of it."

Hello! I hope you're enjoying the story so far! Sorry this chapter was a little short and boring but I have a lot coming up in the next few chapters! They're gonna take a little longer to write and I am hoping to release the next 2-4 chapters at the same time. Expect those in about a week(as of 5/17/21).
