After my talk with Stella, I drove to bed, exhausted after the day's events. My gas meter alerted me that my gas was low. I still felt bad about lying to her, but I was already tired and didn't want to work her up even more.

I silently cursed myself for allowing myself to be out so late, as my shift tomorrow was all day.

When I woke up the next morning I could feel the bags under my eyes, the metal sagging creating a darkened ring around them. I wish I wore car polish so I could cover them up, but I didn't have enough money to afford anything. Not that I cared that much, I always thought it looked campy, all those colors looked unnatural. I sighed looking in the mirror, and quickly went about getting ready. Stella was still asleep, the medicine from earlier probably knocking her out, so I quietly left the apartment and made my way to work.

I realized I left a little earlier than I needed to, I must have forgotten to check the time as I was rushing out the door. I decided to take a new route to work today, to kill some time. The road I was currently on was a long run and slightly winding. The ride was fun and soothing, but the real reason I came this way was to see the beautiful monument that I now stared at in awe.

The golden structure in front of me stood probably seven hundred and fifty six feet tall, but I couldn't be sure. I had always loved the Pyramid, and had started studying it when I was younger. When my family would give me their silent treatment, leaving me in isolation, it was some of the lowest points in my life, but what brought me back to reality was a book. The Legend of the Pyramid. I knew the story from cover to cover.

There was a legend that millions of years ago, before cars, when the land I currently drove on was nothing more than plant and dirt, that four legged creatures roamed the earth. They were hairless and allegedly only used two of their legs to walk. They were strange creatures called humans, and legend says that they built the pyramids to appease their gods.

It was a silly story, really. They were wild animals. As if any creature like that could be sentient. But nonetheless. The story fascinated me. The mystery around this beautiful structure.

When I was a little older, and we finally moved to Nova Scotia, I was so excited to find out that the Pyramids were actually here, although my parents would almost never let me visit them.

I gave the Pyramid one last longing look before turning back onto the main roads towards work. I hadn't realized how long I had spent watching the pyramid, but I still made it to work just in time.

As I was clocking in for my shift, I noticed all the supplies near the main stage. I had completely forgotten that the concert was today. I noticed the Forklifts had come in, lifting the giant speakers and placing them around to their respective places.

As I made my way through the morning rush, I watched as the stage transformed from a dodgy, cluttered room, to a concert hall fit for the Volkswagen Beetles.

We were closing for lunch today, so the band could do their soundcheck. I didn't know much about them, but I was excited to see. It would be cool seeing the whole process the band had to go through, I just hoped their music was good.

I parked in front as the final patrons rode out the door, leaving the bar empty except for all the staff.

"Hey Y/N, come help us move the tables out of the way." Carack called over to me.

For the next while, Carack, a few coworkers, and I worked on pushing the tables towards the outskirts of the room. It seemed tonight was gonna be a packed garage, so we needed a lot of parking space.

As we were pushing the final tables out of the way, I began to hear engines humming backstage. A few overlapping, but they all had distinct hums not local to our city.
