Narrator: Once upon a time, in a faraway land, King Hades lived in a castle with his family. Although he had everything a king could have, King Hades was selfish, and unkind. But then, on a cold winter blizzard, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, King Hades sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away, but she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. And when he dismissed her again, the old woman’s ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful woman who induced herself as the Oracle of Delphi. King Hades followed her gaze upwards to a window with a young boy and upon seeing the prince the Oracle looked back at the King and smiled. King Hades tried to apologize, but it was too late,
The Oracle handed King Hades
"For the prince, Nico" she said
Confused King Hades tried to ask her why she wanted to give him the rose but she raised her hand to silence him and spoke again
"the rose will bloom until his 21th birthday, day by day the boy will fade slowly into the shadows as petals fall untill the last one falls, then he will fade. into nothing forever unless he can find love and earn love in return then the spell will break"
She then waved her hands over the castle and placed a curse on all who lived there and vanished.
Ashamed of his mistakes King Hades concealed his family inside his castle, with a magic mirror the only window to the outside world and left to try and fix everything. As the years passed, the prince fell into despair, and lost all hope, for who could ever learn to love a child of Hades?
