In Oregon, there lies a small area known as Montse. And in the land of Montse, there lies a small town filled with happy people living among each other. The town is so small that everyone is friends with each other, having a great camaraderie between every person.
In the town, you can find everyone helping one another . For example, the cordial baker who enjoys making bread for the town, but sells his creations for a low price so that people can keep coming. Another example is how the farmer provides the baker materials to make his food through being diligent on and off the fields.
Usually, while the adults are doing their everyday duties, the kids of the town play among themselves.. They can be found running around, paying marbles next to the store, and reading. Although the kids are allowed to run wherever they please, the woods are prohibited by the mayor, for in the year 1981, a child by name of Johnny Peel, who was known to be pretty affable by the town, went into the woods and was never seen alive again, and nobody knows what happened in those woods.
As the years passed by, many theories have come up about the missing child, such as how he simply lost his way home, or how he was running away from his parents. Some have even considered that the child never existed and was simply a folklore told to scare those who are amenable, such as the little ones.. However, everyone had agreed that the woods were a place which no one should ever enter.
"At. Any. Cost."
These three words are repeatedly said by the town's benevolent mayor, Tom Cantu. Cantu was loved by all, and he loved his town, which he always claimed. The townsfolk were laudatory to have such an assidious man as their mayor. Cantu states that he was there when the child was missing, and how he remembers running home to his mother, yelling " John hasn't come back from the woods!". As the Mayor, Tom Cantu wants to be conscientious by adding resources to improve the town and also restrictions(or rules), such as to not go into the woods unless you want to risk being banished from Montse. Only one has been banished, but people aren't allowed to bring up his name.
All in all, the town of Montse can seem as though to be a town full of happy people , but deep down, there is a hidden history filled with many secrets waiting to be uncovered.
" Ready?"
" Yeah, I guess..."
"Got your beanie?"
" Uhh.. no..Oh wait I found it."

Approximately 3,500 miles away, a 17-year old boy, who isn't as gregarious as other teenagers, and his mother are busy packing up their stuff... ready to move to Oregon.
