Minnesota: A Grant Landis FanFiction

Chapter 1

Kylinn's POV:

I looked outside and sighed. Why did it have to be snowing so much? I braced myself then walked outside, straight to the mailbox. Once I got the mail out of the mailbox, I looked up and noticed a moving truck parked next door. I slowly started to make my way back to my house when I noticed a guy that looked about my age step outside and head towards the truck. He had dark brown hair and the prettiest blue eyes.

"Moving in?" I asked.

"Actually, yeah" the boy with the amazing eyes said.

"I'm Kylinn. If it wasn't obvious enough, I live over here, next door to you" I stated.

"I'm Grant. It's nice to meet you." He kindly said.

I had then realized that it was 0 degrees outside and I was standing out there in the cold speaking to the new guy that lived next door.

"Maybe I could show you around town sometime." I suggested.

"Sounds like fun." He said, flashing me a smile.

"Alright. Here, let me give you my number so whenever you wanna hang out you can just text me." I said.

We exchanged numbers and I walked back inside. Once inside, I quickly examined what I had pulled out of the mailbox. Once piece of mail in particular caught my eye. It was a letter addressed to me from Playlist Live.

Dear Kylinn,

We would like to invite you to Playlist Live 2016. When we asked who the people wanted to see at Playlist, your name showed up an abundance of times. We would like you to take the main stage, and do a live musical set. Your viewers seem to enjoy your musicality and so do we. We would also would like for you to accompany your older brother Connor on the mainstage to play a brother and sister most-likely to challenge. We can't wait to see you in March

Me? At Playlist? On the main stage? Me? Kylinn Dakota Franta? Once it finally sank in,I immediately texted Connor.

Me: CONNOR CONNOR CONNOR

Connor: WHAT KY?!?!?!?!?!

Me: I JUST GOT INVITED TO PLAYLIST!!!!!!

Connor: WOOHOOO!!! GO KY!!!!!

Me: AND THEY WANT ME TO PERFORM ON THE MAIN STAGE AND DO A CHALLENGE WITH YOU WHEN YOU ARE ON THE MAINSTAGE!!

Connor: OMG KY! I CAN'T WAIT!!! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!

Then I got another text notification. But it wan't from Connor, it was from Grant.

Grant: I was wondering if maybe you wanted to show me around? Only if you want to.

Me: Of course Grant! Just be at my house in fifteen minutes!

After I sent the text, I ran upstairs to my room to change. I pulled on a pair of black leggings, my Spider-Man hoodie, and a pair of Uggs. Then, I ran to the bathroom and quickly brushed through my hair and spraying on some perfume. I then grabbed my wallet, phone, and keys. I went downstairs just in time to hear Grant ringing the door bell.

"Ready?" He asked.

"Sure. Let's go" I replied.

I walked outside and as soon as we started walking someone called Grant's name.

"Grant? Honey, do you need a ride somewhere?" A woman, who I'm assuming is his mom asked.

"Actually Mom, that would be great. Kylinn was just going to show me around." He explained to his mom

"Ok, where were you kids planning on going?" She asked politely.

"I was just thinking we could go to the mall and walk around a bit" I replied to her.

"Okay." She simply replied.

We got in Grant's moms' car and started driving to the mall. While we were in the car, the song Beneath Your Beautiful by Labrinth came on. Almost immediately, Grant started singing. I was taken aback by how amazing of a singer he was. When the second verse started, I started singing. I glanced over at Grant and he was staring at me with amazement.

"What?" I questioned, confused about his staring.

"Oh, nothing. You're just really, really, talented." He stated, making me blush.

"I could say the same about you." I sweetly stated.

The rest of the car ride to the mall was silent apart from the two of us singing. When we arrived at the mall, I saw someone I really didn't want to see. My ex-boyfriend Chase. I started to panic when Grant spoke up.

"Are you alright?" He asked, looking very concerned.

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just that guy over there is my ex and I really want to avoid him" I said, my voice laced with panic.

"Okay. Well, if he tries something, I'm right here for you." He kindly responded.

And almost immediately aftert he finished that statement, Chase starts walking over to us. My hands start to shake. Apparently Grant notices, because he grabs my hand and squeezes it. He doesn't let go, which makes me feel some sense of security and relief.

"Well, who's this Kylinn? Your new boyfriend?" Chase asks, obviously trying to get a reaction from me.

Right as I am about to speak up, Grant does instead.

"Yeah, I am her boyfriend. Can I help you?" Grant says, catching me and Chase off-guard.

"Uh, nevermind" Chase says, obviously embarrased.

"What on Earth was that?" I ask once Chase is out of earshot.

"Like I said, I'm here for you. Now, can we go into Urban Outfitters? They had a hoodie there that I really wanted to get" Grat says, switching the topic.

"Alright." I simply reply.

I can't believe Grant stood up for me like that. And when he grabbed my hand, what was I feeling? Am I starting to develop feelings fro Grant?
