The Lonely Gecko

Devin the eagle was flying gracefully in the sky and looking into the forest below for his next meal. It was a warm and humid day and a blanket of clouds were covering a little part of the yellow sun. He came across a juicy crested gecko sitting on the ground just waiting to be eaten.

He notices that there are some small dirt-covered eggs beside the mother gecko, Devin much prefers eggs so he wants to grab those instead.

Devin swooped down in a split second to take his meal when the mother gecko steps in,

"take me not them!" she said.

"Alright but I'm not happy about it", said Devin. "One day I will get you back!"

A couple days later both of the eggs started to wiggle around.

One of the geckos popped out of the shiney wight egg.

"hello world! My name is Carrot!" he said. Carrot had a beautiful dark pinstripe down his back and Some dalmatian spotting along the toes of his feet. Carrot's instincts tell him to look for his mother.

"Mama, MAMA!" He exclaimed. Then suddenly the other egg starts to wiggle around and pop, there is another baby gecko!

The other gecko came out. She said to the crowd "hi my name is Coral are you my Mama?"

They both sat there silently until Carrot said " No I'm not your mama, have you seen my mama?" No I have not, have you seen my mama? They both look at each other and scream "WHERE IS MY MAMA!" Still both wet from being in the egg they set off to find their mom.

Coral and Carrot were determined to find their mother so off they went for a dangerous adventure to get their mother back. The siblings started off looking around the area where they were born, under the rock, up in the trees, but the lonely geckos could not find her.

"Carrot?" Coral asked. "Do you think we will ever find our mama?"

"I don't know," says Carrot. They had just lost all hope when they stumbled upon an unusual-looking figure in the distance. Carrot and Coral approached with caution.

"H hi" Carrot managed to blurt out. "Are you our mama?"

"Who has entered my temple?!" The figure said in shock.

"I'm Carrot, and this is Coral."

Oh, I'm afraid I have some bad news for you children. You see, when you were still in the egg there was a horrible accident that happened between your mother and Devin the terrible, just terrible eagle. Devin came down to eat you guys but your brave mother stood up for you and she said "EAT ME NOT THEM!" That's how your mother died. Tears started to run down Carrot and Coral's faces.

"All that searching for nothing," Coral said with a depressed tone.

Meanwhile Devin the eagle was searching for yet another meal. He came to a stop and perched on a tree branch. Devin notices that three crested geckos are sitting under a damp rock. He came down to a closer branch and listened in on the conversation. Then Devin realizes that they are the geckos that came out of the eggs! He just needed to eat them up for supper. Once again Devin swoops down in the blink of an eye to capture his prey.

"Who is this I see, could it be? The children of Kira, the stupid gecko?!"

"RUN!" The strange figure says. Carrot manages to run up in an abandoned bird nest but Coral was not as lucky. She could not find anywhere to hide, Coral was the most terrified she has ever been in her short life. Coral's life flashed before her eyes when suddenly she got scooped up by Devin the malicious eagle. After he left Carrot and the mysterious figure came out of their hiding spots. "Nooooo!!!" Carrot yells across the forest.

"It's going to be ok," the figure said.

Carrot starts to run away as fast as he can into the depths of the forest. Carrot's sister was the only thing he had and now she is gone. He felt as sad as a person when they lose a loved one. He ran and ran until he reached an enormous cave. "Woah," Carrot says. "I have never in my entire life seen a cave this big!"

Carrot's instinct tells him not, under any circumstances, to go into that cave. But unlike the instinct to find his mother, he goes right ahead inside the spooky cave. "Ugh, What is that? It's dripping on my head?!" Carrot says.

He realized that the goopy liquid dripping on his head was a coyote drool! "Uh oh," He looks up and sees a ferocious-looking beast! He looks around and sees not one not two but five hungry coyotes. Carrot doesn't run and doesn't hide but he just stands there.

"You know what, I don't care if you eat me. My mama AND my sister died so just go ahead and eat me". Carrot said.

"Alrighty them if you say so," said the coyote in the back. They all lunged at Carrot when suddenly Coyote number 3 pushed his way through the pack and stood defensively in front of Carrot.

"Don't you dare touch him!" Coyote number 3 shows his yellow teeth to the rest of the group. They all run into the depths of the cave. "Are you ok?" He asked.

"Yeah I'm fine,'' said Carrot. "Why did you save me?"

Because I remember being a lonely cub, my father passed away when I was 11 months old, and ever since then my life mission is to help other creatures so they don't end up like my dad.

"Oh I'm so sorry for your loss, I get it."

"Thanks, I'll tell you what, I will bring you to the city and there you can find someone to love you! Climb on my back! Also call me Jack, Jack Peterson."

"Sounds good! Let's go!" Carrot said. Jack runs as fast as a cheetah, unlike Carrot who runs as slow as a sloth. Together they went over hills, mountains, and over grassy terrains until they finally reached the city of New Caledonia.

"I can't go much further," said Jack. From here you will be on your own.

"Thank You for all of your help, if it weren't for you I would be dead meat, literally!"

"Now go, my precious!" All of the sudden a bush nearby starts to rumble.

"Who's there?" Carrot said with a scared voice. Then a chipmunk appears out of the bush.

"Hi hi hiiiii my name is Chippy!" The chipmunk screamed.

"Uh hi, my name is Carrot."

"I know this town like the back of my paw, well I guess I don't usually stare at my paw all the time. Anyway, I hear that you need a family soooooo I know about a particular family that needs a gecko! Do I talk too much? Yeah, I probably do, oh well! What are you waiting for? Let's go!!!" Chippy said.

"Um ok..." Carrot said. He was surprised at how straightforward she was and how much she talked.

"Vamos as the Spanish would say!" Chippy said. Chippy was just as fast as Jack but 10 times more energetic. Carrot could barely keep 4 feet behind her. Then Chippy started to talk again. "Come on move those legs, move them! Ok so this is the lake, don't go in there. This is the forest again, don't go in there. Here we are 328 money avenue!" She said.

Thank you so much I don't know how to repay you. Carrot said.

Oh, don't worry about that! One day I will get my vengeance. Ok bye!

I will finally be happy again!
