One night, a girl's mother came to her room to tuck her into bed. "Good night my darling angel", mother says with a smile.
"Good night, Mother", the little girl also says with a smile while her mother finishes tucking her child into bed. The mother gently kissed her daughter's forehead, turned off the side light on her way to the door, and closed it on her way out.
The little girl was about to be going to dreamland, until all of a sudden, a tiny dark ball of blurriness, the size of the little girl's hand came flying towards the little girl flapping its invisible wings. She heard the sound of fluttering wings and sat up on her bed to try and see what was inside her room. Just being in a dark room was difficult to see what that spec is. The little blurry ball has wings that have the same sound as a hummingbird's. She pondered on whether or not it was just her imagination and was in total confusion about what was making that sound until the ball of blurriness had spoken with its little hand on the girl's cheek.
"Hello there" the blurry ball spoke. The little girl tried to adjust her eyes through the darkness but still saw a blurry puffball.
"What are you? I can't see you." Stated as the little girl tries to reach for her side lamp.
"No wait!" the blurry ball shrieked with worry in its voice along with taking its hand back from the little girl's cheek. The little girl stopped her reach for the side light and placed her hand back on her side.
"umm... um.... I just don't want to make it look like someone is skipping their bedtime, he...he...he...", said the blurry ball with a nervous smile.
"Oh, alright then", said the little girl with a smile on her face. The little girl was curious as to what the blurry ball looked like since she was in a dark room.
"What are you?", the girl asked.
The blurry ball said with a smile, "I'm what you beings called a 'fairy'."
"What's your name?" asked the little girl out of curiosity.
"I am called Malkim. Also, since I have answered your questions, I have a question of my own" said the blurry ball.
"Are you an alien?" asking out of wonder on what a 'fairy' is.
"Now now child. I will answer that one later." Malkim said in a silent chuckling tone.
"What will be your name, might I ask?" asked Malkim.
"My name is Emiko", said the little girl with a smile.
"Ah, that name fits you perfectly. Your parents had made a fine choice indeed" chuckling Malkim.
"Why is that?" Questioned Emiko.
"'Emiko' is a name that has a meaning called the 'smiling child'," Malkim explained. Emiko looked at Malkim with a big smile along with some little giggles.
"Can I ask some more questions?" Emiko said excitedly jumping up and down on her bum while sitting down on the bed.
"Hmm, you can ask one more question", said Malkim.
"Aww, fine...." pouted Emiko. She wanted to ask more questions about the mysterious being that just showed up in her room. She'll have to think long and hard about this question.
"Can I see what you look like?" She didn't know that curiosity got the better of her.
"Hmm", Malkim said, figuring out what the best option is suitable for this case scenario in hopes that it wouldn't frighten the poor child or possibly shatter this child's reality even further than it already is. "Sure". Emiko was ecstatic to see the fairy's new transformation. Malkim fluttered away from the bed and a little bit closer to the side light that was next to the bed as a little gust of wind started to pick up and soon died after. That blurry ball wasn't a blurry ball anymore, but just a tiny human with wings.
Emiko was thrilled by what she was about to see and jumped out of bed to have a better look at what was in front of her. "Woah! You look awesome!" Emiko has the biggest grin on her face while staring at Malkim with stars in her eyes.
"You look so pretty!"
"Hehe, thank you, child. Now let's get you back to bed". Malkim held the child's finger and flew towards the bed. As Emiko is walking towards her bed with Malkim taking the lead, she looks at Malkim's wings and wonders how they might feel. Emiko tried to pet Malkim's wings with her other free hand, but before she could touch them. Malkim turned around and grabbed the little girl's wrist with an odd-looking string and stared into Emiko's eyes as if the little fairy was burning holes into her eye sockets. They realized whose wrist they had in their grasp and immediately let it go. "S-sorry about that, I don't like my wings being touched and I would also not be able to fly".
"It's alright, I'm sorry for wanting to touch them without asking first", Emiko said nervously, hoping that they could forgive her.
"Come on now, up you go!~" Malkim said, sounding sweet as they ruffled the darling girl's hair.
Emiko hopped onto the bed, laid down in the comfy blankets, and looked at Malkim. "I'm sorry that I tried to touch your wings. I hope that you can forgive me..." she said with shy sadness in her voice.
"Hey, it's alright. It was an accident, correct?" tilting their head to the side with a small smile.
Emiko nodded slowly with the look of puppy dog eyes, while still looking at Malkim.
Malkim gave a smile, "Then there is nothing to worry about then". They brought up their hand and slowly patted the child's head with their tiny hand in hopes to try and calm her down.
"Good night, Malkim", Emiko said quietly, almost close to a whisper as her eyes were falling heavily.
"Good night, my child. Have sweet dreams and hope that you'll dream of a magical land", Malkim responded with a small smile.
Emiko asked Malkim one final question to end the night, "Will I see you again?"
"...We shall see...."
As the child finally closed her eyes off to her restful sleep. Malkim looked at her with a sad worried smile and then turned their head and saw a human-sized comfy chair. They fluttered themselves over there, took a seat on the armrest, and looked out the window to see dark clouds shifting away ever so slowly to reveal a beautiful glistening full moon that was shining its beauty through. Wondered, would this child be the one to keep her 'sight' much longer? Would she be able to tell the difference between imagination and reality?
They tried to say it quietly as ever to try and not wake up the child, "I hope that you'll be able to see me once again because you have something inside of you. Something very rare that no normal human being can ever receive... The power of imagination ...."
