"Lunch break! My favorite time of day! What's your lunch, Percy?" Grover said.
"Oh, my mom cooked this omelet for me. Want some?" I said.
"You know I can't say no to food." he said while getting some.
"You know, tomorrow will be my 16th birthday. For 16 years, i've never seen my dad." I said.
"Well, advance happy birthday. You'll meet him soon. " he said then gave me a strange look.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Uhm, I really can't explain this to you. But, of course, you need to know the truth." he said.
"What? I don't understand." I said.
"Meet me here tomorrow. Bring your mom with you." he said.
"But-" I said but Grover cut me off.
"No buts. Just do it." he said then left me.
When I arrived home, I saw Gabe, my stepfather, treating my mom like a servant.
"Hey, let me do it." I whispered to my mom. I did all the cleaning.
After a little while, after I finished cleaning, my mom approached me.
"Percy, everything ok?" she said.
"yeah, it's just that...my friend, Grover, acts so strange today." I said.
"W-What did he say?" she said nervously.
"He said that i'll meet my father soon. Oh, and he wants me to meet him at school tomorrow. With you." I said.
"Really? O-Okay." she said.
THE NEXT DAY
"Mom? Why did you bring so many bags? We're not leaving for good. We're just meeting Grover." I said.
"I know, honey. I know" she said then get in the car.
We arrived at Yancy Academy. We immediately saw Grover. By the way, I forgot, Grover's crippled. He's with a man on a wheelchair. We get out of the car and approached them.
"Grover!" I called.
"Percy...happy birthday!!" he said then gave me a quick hug. "Hi, Sally."
"H-Hi." my mom said. They really act so strange to me. I don't know what's happening.
"This is Mr. Chiron. Chiron, you know them already, don't you?" Grover asked Chiron.
"I know them...very well.." he said.
"What's this? Can you please explain?" I said.
"Sally, go on." Grover said.
"Percy, you need to know the truth...You're a demigod." my mom said. Wait..what?
"Woah...a demigod? Meaning half-human, half-god." I said.
"Yes. You need to go with them. You're already 16." my mom said.
"But mom...i don't understand!" I yelled.
"You'll soon understand when you come with us. You're destined to be with us." Chiron said.
"How can i believe you? You just appeared out of nowhere. I don't even know you!" I said.
"Percy...you need to trust us. You want to meet your father? We can help you. You don't belong here." Grover said.
"Grover, I thought you're my friend!" I said.
"I am! You need to come with us." Grover said.
"Honey, just go. They're right. I'm your mom and I know what's best for you." she said then handed me my bag.
"Mom...okay." I said then I walked away from my mom. I saw her crying. It hurts to see her that way. I don't know what's waiting for me in their place. i hope i won't regret this.
