Quantum Leaping

Chapter 1 : Where it all began

There was a 25 year old man named Ichida Izumi. He believes, science is behind everything. If you ask him the reason he says always, "Let's take ghosts as an example. Some people claims that they've seen ghosts, but what if the ghost that they have seen is merely their imagination ? Or its just a natural phenomenon that happens rarely and hasn't been explained by science ? That's why I believe in science". He believes in the philosophy, "Unless you know the same pain, you cannot truly understand each other". That's why he have been alone for the longest time, because he have never met anyone like him. Currently he teaches science at a university.

A/N : This story is set in Japan. In japan people's surname are written first and their given name afterwards so, "Ichida" is his surname and "Izumi is his given name".

While he was teaching, One of his students stands up and asks him, "What is Quantum Leaping ?". He answers, "Quantum Leaping is basically your dreams, in your dreams your concoiness jumps into a place where you actually aren't. Although in fiction, it is also know as Reality Shifting. Meaning you get into another reality, for example, you're currently in this university but in another reality you could be at a convience store".

After finishing his classes, he was walking his way to his home and he crosses roads with a man who was wearing a mask. Izumi found that strange but he don't like to interfere into another man's business so, he casually ignores him and came home. After entering, he says to his mom, "Did Kaori came from school ?". His mom asks, "Kaori, who's she ?", Izumi was confused and thought his mom was joking, he says "Mom stop joking, I'm talking about Kaori, my little sister". His mom answers in a confused manner, "You're my only child, I know you're a big science jerk but don't go making weird theories". After what she said, Izumi was having many thoughts and decided to go to his room.

While he was lying on the bed in his room, he thinks to himself, "What's wrong with mom ? She's acting like my little sister never existed ? Could it be..." He pauses for second, "No way, there's just no way" he thinks back to his explaintion of Quantum Leaping and says "There's no way that I Quantum Leaped here, I mean I never created a Quantum Leaping machine is the first place, but wait could it be because of that strange man ? Is he connected to this ? But there's no proof".

While he was thinking that his house's bell rang. When his mom opened it, she sees a girl. The girl says, "I am Suzuki Hayasaka and I'm Izumi's friend", after hearing that his mom welcomes her and shows the way to his room. Hayasaka knocks on the door and when Izumi opens it, he somewhat felt like he has met her before but he can't remember it so, he asks her, "who are you ?" she grabs his mouth by her hands and comes in the room and immediately locked the door. Izumi asks in a confused manner, "What's your deal ?" and she says, "You quantum leaped here, didn't you Ichida-san ?". He was very shocked that she knew about all this and before he could say anything she starts explaining everything and says, "I am Suzuki Hayasaka and I quantum leaped here too and I'm even from the same reality as you except I used a time machine and I know that you're shocked but sit down quietly and listen to me" while she was saying this, she puts her hands on his shoulders and softly pushed them to sit on bed and she also sits and starts explaining again, "When I was seventeen years old, I met a strange man wearing a mask" Izumi thinks in his mind, "So he is connected to this, after all". Hayasaka continues, "That man told me that I'll make a time machine at the age of 25 and it'll fail but he told me at a certain time it'll work. He told me when my reality will shift, I'll become a high scholar and I'll met a man named Ichida Izumi. He said, other details will be written in a letter which I'll get when I'll quantum leape. She sighs and says, "All of his predictions have came true and I know exactly how you came here, it was described in the letter".

After hearing her story he felt like his mind will blast off but since he is the calm type he says, "I want to go to my original reality since I need my sister back but why do you want to go back ? Just because it's original ? If I ever got the chance to become high school student again then I'll gladly accept it. Why aren't you trying to enjoy your youth again ?". Hayasaka makes a face like she knew already that he was gonna say that and says, "In original reality, my dad is alive but here he has died. My dad was the only reason why I ever wanted to be a scientist. My dad use to have a lot of work because he was a scientist too and he use to make time machines which doesn't work but he never gave up on making them and when I told him that I wanted to be a scientist too then he said that if I'm interested in making a time machine then if he couldn't successfully make a working time machine then he would like me to make one someday. He was my motivation. But in this reality he died because his lab got blasted". "I see" Izumi said with a sad face. Hayasaka changes her sad expression to a thinking expression and says, "For some reason, it was written in the letter that we have to meet a guy named Ryūnosuke who goes to the same high school as us and we have to team up with him. He also quantum leaped here". Izumi was shocked by the fact that there's another person who quantum leaped and more importantly who is that strange man ? "Why are we following orders of a letter sent by a mysterious man ?" Izumi stated. Hayasaka says with a down look, "I also don't want to follow the orders of a letter that is sent by a man we don't even know but we don't have a choice because it was stated in letter that if we didn't follow the orders then we'll die". Izumi was very shocked after hearing this and says, "Die, huh ? we can't even take a chance against it since if it's true we'll just die." "Alright, then tomorrow in school we'll talk with this Ryūnosuke guy". Izumi said while sighing. Hayasaka then says, "Let's exchange Line IDs then". Izumi and Hayasaka exchanged their Line IDs. "I'll message you my address since it's important to know" Hayasaka says while leaving his room.

THE NEXT DAY,

Izumi got her address through line. Izumi's and Hayasaka's section were different so they can't see each other during class. It was the time of lunch break while everybody was eating in cafeteria, Izumi was checking the list of students and he found out Ryūnosuke's section and class but it was weird because there was no surname attached to it. He went to search for Hayasaka and found her in her class 2-B. They both went to class 2-D to see if Ryūnosuke was in class room but he wasn't. They tried to search the whole school by spitting up and Izumi founds him around nearby garden. Ryūnosuke was sitting on grass under a tree relaxing. Izumi goes near him and says, "You quantum leaped too, didn't you ?", "O--" says Ryūnosuke with a surprised look and again tries to say, "Yes, I did and I also met that strange man like you and Suzuki-san did." "You too, huh". says Izumi with a tried expression since he was finding him. Izumi immediately massage's Hayasaka to come to the nearby garden and while she was on her way, Ryūnosuke asks, "What do you think is the happiest time ?" to Izumi. Izumi closes his eyes and says, "The past makes you wanna die out of regret, the future makes you depressed out of anxiety, so by elimination the present is likely the happiest time". Ryūnosuke closes his eyes and smiles and Izumi opens his eyes and says, "Why did you wanted to know that ?", Ryūnosuke says, "It's nothing". Since Izumi doesn't like to butt in other people's business he says, "If you say so". The garden where they were on, was on the left side and on the right side there was place to walk and in middle there was cars going. Izumi sees Hayasaka crossing the road and even though it was red sign, a car bumped into her and she started bleeding. Izumi was worried and started running towards her while Ryūnosuke noticed that he's going somewhere, he started to follow him and suddenly realized that someone is bleeding and since Izumi was running towards her so, he assumes that it's Hayasaka. When they got to her she lost too much blood and died on site. The person who hit her drove somewhere else like it was intentional. While Ryūnosuke and Izumi were worried, suddenly they hear two gun shots and founds that they are shotted and they... died.

A/N : How was the first chapter ? It is made of 1,500 words since it was first but all the other chapters  afterwards will be of 1,000 words. I am new to writing so, I needed experience that's why I decided to start this series. Give me tips for writing and also don't forget to write your thoughts on story in comment section.
