I slammed my fist against a stone that was next to me."No," I growled, "No, no, no. Mom said he was dead. Mom never lied. Mom doesn't lie." I then cradled my throbbing hand, but ignored the pain.
Xänder watched me sympathetically, and Tarah glared at him. "He's in there, then?" she quipped, trying to to strangle him, I suppose.
Your dad, too." he replied.
She stared at him, her mouth agape. "I swear to fu-"
"I guess....it's time for me to explain, then." he interrupted her, looking a bit taken aback. Serves him right.
I scowled, wiping away the unwanted tear. "It was 'time' a long time ago, dude."
He watched me, and I stared at him, showing no emotion.
As usual.
"All of your parents...our parents...the ones we were told were 'dead' or 'missing' or 'gone.'... their in there." he pointed to the mountain.
I stared at him.
"They're in a hollowed out mountain?" i asked slowly.
"Yeah."
"Kidnapped?" John asked softly, curiously. That seemed to be his whole persona: calmness
"No..."
"Xänder..." I said, warning in my voice.
"Out with it." Tarah added.
"Fine." he said, exasperated. "You really want to know? Your parents are of the legend of King Arthur. Meaning, your parents are from the Round Table. Your fathers will claim you today. As will my mother."
I stared at him.
"And don't call me a liar." he said, looking at me. "You asked for the truth, and I answered."
I didn't say anything.
"How are we supposed to believe..." Tarah struggled to say.
"Because he's just looking out for us. That's why he didn't tell us earlier. He knew it would scare us." Johnny said softly, though I could tell he was slightly annoyed, too.
"Is that true?" I asked quietly. Xänder shrugged. "Pretty much. I wouldn't lie to you." he said.
"Can we go now?"
I hesitated. "I'll go if Johnny goes." I said. "And I'll go if Mylah goes." Tarah added. I looked to John. He looked nervous. I guess he didn't really like being put on the spot.
Well, too bad, buddy.
"Of course I'll go." he said. "Okay, then. Let's go." Xänder said. He held out his hands, and I took one and John took another. Tarah took Johnny's hand, and Xänder snapped his fingers.
We didn't run through any walls this time, it was just a white flash, and then we were...there.
I opened my eyes, finding an exhausted looking Xänder. He even about fell, but I caught him and stabled him. "You okay?" I asked worriedly. Even though I was mad at him, and I barely knew him, he was still the boy I had always dreampt about, and I couldn't let that pass.
He was breathing heavily. "I- I'm fine. Just...hard to do...magic...when you aren't a magician." he breathed, then coughed. I raised an eyebrow. "Your not...Merlin's kid?" I asked, surprised. But they were in the same room...
He shook his head. "My dad's total mortal. My mother, on the other hand, is either The Lady Of The Lake, or Queen Guinevere." he told me, rolling his eyes. I figured that the Queen wasn't exactly a...pleasant person at that.
