How long had it been since a customer came in?

It was now a couple of hours into the night. Mark had been checking stock in the back of the Tim Hortons as no customers were coming into the gas station where the Tims was located. It was an attempt to keep his bored mind moving but 30 minutes in and Mark still felt dead inside. As such he decided to open his laptop to watch a couple of youtube videos. As he was watching Dream cleverly outrun his friends in another manhunt video, someone entered the storage area where he was.

Mark had barely heard Lily-Anne arriving. Caught slightly off guard, his body jumped a little and he stumbled trying to find what to say.

"Oh, uh, hi Lily-Anne," he managed to jumble together.

"Hi Mark, you good?" she asked in return.

Keep it cool, don't mess this up, Mark repeated in his head. "Close to dead, any customers?" he said.

Seeing Lily-Anne's smile raise and hearing her chuckle gave Mark validation and helped him relax knowing he was doing well.

"No one, not even anybody for the gas station." She responded. "Isn't that weird, I thought we'd get at least a few truckers but, no."

"They might have just all decided to stop at Herb's or Burger king instead," Mark hesitantly offered as an explanation for her remarks.

"True," she replied.

There was a small pause as Lily-Anne seemed to think about what to say next. "Hey what were you watching?" she asked.

Panic rushed back into Mark. What should I do? Should I lie? Should I just tell her it was Dream? She wouldn't think you're weird for that? A lot of people like Dream, Right?

Mark decided to be honest to her in a hushed and nervous tone.

He was relieved to see Lily-Anne's face light up in pleasant surprise. "No way, I love that guy!" she told him. Mark was ecstatic to hear that they liked something in common. It seemed evermore possible that the cute girl who he worked with could really want to date him.

She paused, again seeming to hesitate on what she would say next. "How 'bout I make you a drink?" she asked.

Just like that, Mark felt like he had floated up to cloud 9. Now she wanted to make him a drink? His confidence shot up.

"Wow, thanks," He replied "How about the new Cold Brew. I haven't tried it yet. Just make sure to add a bit more cream."

"Alright go it," Lily-Anne responded.

Mark made his way to the front while his coworker made the drink. That's when he noticed a pair of headlights flashing on the ground outside. He ran through the corner store the Tims was in, out the doors to find a bailey damaged car idle at the entrance from the road. The gas station attendant was helping two people walk forward.

They finally had customers, they were just bruised and bloodied.
