Ace and Oliver

chapter 1

I have been looking for my family for over five years, they disappeared when I was six, the night they disappeared I was just about to go to bed. Mom and dad were reading me a book and suddenly a hole blew up in the side of our house. A scaly monster appeared, it had bright green eyes, silver scales, it looked like a dragons and a phoenix.  I saw Oliver (my brother, 3 years older than me) rushed in, his eyes filled with fear. My mom said to me "Oliver will tell you everything, for now wear this." My mom gave me and Oliver a necklace with a charm, which looked like a star and it had mine and Oliver's initials on the back of it (OA). I put the necklace on, and my mom told Oliver "You know what to do, keep your brother safe." Oliver nodded, then to both of us she said "I love you both, that is why I never told you anything" my dad put his hand on my shoulder and said " Don't lose hope, look for us we will be waiting with open arms," I hugged him tight and ran with Oliver right behind me. I looked back to see my mom and dad on their knees and with blood coming from their eyes. Me and my brother were running as fast as we could, the creature was right behind us. I heard Oliver saying some random words and the next thing I knew, I was on the side of a road crying and all I heard was Oliver's voice, it echoed in my head saying "Ace, I will come back to you and tell you everything, don't lose hope" I fell to my knees crying, and yelled "NO! I NEED YOU NOW, COME BACK, I NEED YOU,"

I am 15 now (which means Oliver is 18) and I currently live with my aunt. I asked her what happened to my parents many times but she always changed the subject or refused to tell me anything. I am starting to lose hope, no one is telling me what happened and I am so confused about all of this, but I won't stop until I find my family even if they are dead I will find their body, and destroy the person who killed them. I was walking to the store on a Saturday afternoon, just then I saw a boy walking towards me. He was wounded and was covered in blood. "Are you ok?" I said as I rushed to help him. I helped him stand and he said "hello! I am finally here, sorry to keep you waiting." putting on a weak smile. "sorry I think you got the wrong guy" I said "no I didn't, I have been with you since the day you were born we always hung out and pl-" he passed out. I called an ambulance and we went to a hospital. I was sitting outside the E.R while the doctors were operating on him. The doctor came out and said "he is fine now but he needs to stay here for observations" "ok" I said sitting back down "how do you know this boy" the doctor asked, "I found him on the street, he was badly wounded so I got him here. Why are you asking? Is something wrong?" I replied and started to get worried. "The wounds he has are not normal, it's like.. umm...I don't even know how to describe it, but you don't need to worry he is stable, for now at least." the doctor replied. They moved him to a patient room and he was out cold for the next few days.

I was waiting for him to wake up so he could tell me who he was. Why was he wounded? Why did he say that he was with me since the day I was born? And why did I feel drawn to him? While he was out, the charm that my mom gave me was glowing, and it was vibrating. He woke up after three days. I went to his room and then I asked him "who are you? How do you know me? What happened to you? why were you covered in blood?" "I will tell you everything but first could you get me a glass of water?" Before I could say anything he said "please" in a weak voice. I nodded and left. After I got back he was out of his bed looking out the window. "You're not supposed to be on your feet yet, '' I told him. I helped him get back to his bed and gave him water. "Now that you have had water, can you tell me what happened?" "I am your brother a-" I cut him off and said "Oliver?" he nodded, I kissed him and hugged him tightly, "I missed you so much," I said "I missed you too, Ace" Oliver said with tears in his eyes "but we have bigger problems on our hands" "wait, before you tell me what that is, can you first tell me what happened that night?" "the night that that monster took mom and dad" "yes" "the night that that monster took mom and dad was some type of anniversary for the company dad used to work for, vilesnare. The CEO  of Vilesnare is Liam vile. He has lots of power, he is very manipulative and sly. He has built an empire in the sky called sky Romain. Dad had magical powers and he married a human and it was forbidden in sky Romain to marry non magical people. I was born with some amount of magic in me but you were something out of the ordinary, you have powers that are way beyond anyone's understanding and way more powerful than anything Liam has seen, that is why he wants you. Anyway getting back to the main point Liam took me because he thought I was the one with powers. He didn't take you because he couldn't sense your magic. He later found out that you were the one with powers but by that time you disappeared, and he is keeping mom and dad prisoners until you turn yourself to him, and bend to his will."

There was a long silence. Then I finally said "I am going to ask the doctors if I can take you home." I left the room to go look for a nurse. When I came back, Oliver was missing. 'Damn it, I wanted to ask him if he had the necklace mom gave us, I should have asked him before' I thought before I rushed out of the hospital to look for him, but I couldn't find him. I wanted to go to where we met but it was already dark, so I decided to look tomorrow. When I went home I told my aunt that I found Oliver. "I found Oliver" I said as we ate dinner, she shot her head up and had an intense look on her face, she looked almost scared. "That's amazing, you should have brought him home" she said clearly putting on a fake smile. "He is in the hospital," I told her, looking down at my plate. "Ok" she said as she let out a sigh, she sounded almost relieved that I didn't bring Oliver. After dinner I went for a walk to clear my head. I felt a chill go down my spine. I turned around to see a tall man, wearing a black coat. As I turned back to continue my walk. He held a knife to my throat "shhhh, don't move and don't make a sound" he whispered in my ear.
