I woke up to the sound of a door slamming and heard my mom yelling at whatever stranger had stayed the night. That's my wake up call on Friday and Saturday mornings. This Saturday morning was a normal one. We were out of food so I grabbed the list pinned on the fridge and headed out. I was wearing some joggers and a spaghetti strapped short shirt. It was pretty cold that day but I didn't feel like going back inside to grab a jacket after hearing my mom yell "WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING?" She knew exactly where I was going. I go to the store for her lazy ass every two weeks. If I didn't we wouldn't have any food. All she contributes to the list is different brands of alcohol. Although she has yet to get into her mind i'm too young to purchase any so I always slip the cashier an extra $20 for a six pack. When I got to the store the f-boys were crowding around some new girl telling them about her old school. She was acting so shy and innocent and I could see right through that bullshit. One guy caught my eye who was just lingering waiting for his friends and seemed bored out of his mind. He had a skateboard which I found rather unusual for him to be a skater and part of the basic white boy crew. Jayden had always been the most tolerable out of them all. He was a fighter and fairly cocky but he had always been nice to me. Matter of fact I used to have a crush on him when he first came to our school. Of course after I saw which group he fell in with, I knew it would never happen and forgot about it. We weren't really friends, more like acquaintances. If he was near me he'd speak to me but other than that, there really was no friendship or anything. When I walked past him, I guess I stared a little too long since I was caught off guard by his skateboard. He caught my gaze, licked his lips, and smirked. He eyed me up and down which made me a little upset seeing that he probably thought I looked trashy. I guess that was on me for dressing the way I did today. I walked into the store and stopped myself for a second thinking "When did I start caring what other people think?" I didn't give too much more thought to it, bought my groceries, and left. Then the weirdest thing happened. I walked out to my car and there was a hoodie and a note sitting on the hood of my car. The note read "You looked cold" and was signed "-J." This baffled me beyond explanation. Why was Jayden worried about me being cold? Why would he give me his hoodie? How did he know which car was mine? The weirdest thing was it was his favorite hoodie. I see him wearing it at school all the time. I looked around and didn't see him anywhere. I have no idea why or what had gotten into me but I put the hoodie on. I could smell cologne on it. It was really strong. I smiled a little realizing he probably sprayed it with cologne before giving it to me. I thought about him the whole entire way home and for the rest of the night. I didn't know what to do so I baked some brownies on Sunday and figured i'd give him the hoodie back with the brownies since that's his favorite treat on Monday. How did I know that was his favorite treat? I have no idea. He must've mentioned it before. I ended up falling asleep both nights thinking and contemplating why he left me his hoodie and all sorts of other things about him.
