AN: Hey guys so I rewatched Dead Poets Society in my english class the other day and remembered how much I loved it...and I, of course, know that Todd and Neil are meant for each other.

also the ending always messes me up so this is my way of coping.

(I don't really know what this mess of a story is lmao...hope ya like it)

(side note: the poem in this is an original, something I made up in 10 minutes, so it is not my best work, but it fits for the story).

enjoy!

"Let me see it!" Neil exclaimed. He had a wide grin on his face, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"No!" Todd yelped. He could not let Neil read the poem.

"It-it's not ready yet- Neil, come on-"

"Oh won't you let me read it? Please? Come on Todd?" Neil pleaded.

He had this silly look on his face, mischief, sincerity, curiousity, and hope, all embedded into one. A face that just killed Todd.

"F-fine. But just know that it's not that good and-"

"His eyes are the sun, the moon, and the birds." Neil read dramatically, his face taking one of a lovesick poet.

"Bright, full of life

Twinkling, full of radiance"

Todd's heart was loudly pounding in his chest. So loud, he was surprised that Neil had not said something.

"They sung with hope

They showered me with love

Oh what a gift, oh what a treat

Oh what a joy

To swim in his eyes, so lively and wild

So deep, so wide with wonder

What a beauty, those eyes!

A gift, a treasure

A light

Gaze upon them I shall

Hope and dream I will

Ponder I may

How lucky am I

To be able to engulf myself in the wonders of his eyes."

Neil was silent, a small smile still on his face.

Todd felt as if he was going to explode. He could imagine it, right there and then, his body turning into a puff of smoke, leaving only dust behind.

"I know it was not that good Neil I just-"

Neil's eyes widened at this, his eyebrows arched.

"Not that good?! Are you kidding? I can't believe the words that come from your mouth sometimes, Toddy. You are a fine poet, a fine one. You have talent."

Todd blushed.

The two stared at each other, each giving the other a soft smile. Todd could feel his heart doing somersaults in his chest.

"Neil?" Todd said timidly.

Oh god am I really going to do this? Oh no oh no oh no He thought.

"What's up?"

Okay, okay, I got this.

"You're my friend...and we appreciate each other...we're comfortable around each other, so you'll be okay with me no matter what right?"

"Of course, buddy, I'm always here for you." Neil said, placing a hand on Todd's knee.
Todd gulped.

"O-okay well, I just want you to know that no matter what I tell you, I'm still the same person, and I never want to upset you or anything, but I just want you to know, 'cause we've been friends for so long and I trust you, and you know how much I value trust-"

"Hey Todd?"

He looked up, to see Neil gazing at him with a kind look. "I could never be mad at you, okay? So just tell me what you wanted to say."

"Okay, here goes. I'm in love with you Neil, and I know you don't feel the same way, but I just HAD to tell you that I love you, because I do. I love how kind you are to me, I love the way that you make me feel-like, like I'm worth it. I love all the moments we spend together. In fact, that poem I wrote, it was about you, about you and your eyes, your pretty, wonderful eyes. I know it's odd for me to love you the way that I do, because I'm a boy, so I should be in love with some pretty gal, the way Knox is with Chris, but I can't. I know I should like seeing those girls in Charlie's magazines, but I just can't, because, well, I love you. I know it's wrong, 'cause you're a boy, and I'm a boy, but-"

"Todd?"

"...Yeah?"

"I love you too. You are the light in my eyes. The thing that keeps me going, the thing that gives me strength. You are the reason I act, you are my muse, my world, my everything. So yes, I love you too Todd."

It took a second for the magnitude of Neil's words to sink in. When they did, Todd broke into the widest grin imaginable and said, "Nothing in this world can be used to well enough describe my love for you, for it is deeper then the oceans, grander then the finest china, and richer than the oldest emeralds. My love for you is immeasurable, Neil."

"I love you, my beautiful poet. My Walt Whitman. My Romeo."

"And I love you, my grand thespian, my hero, my beautiful Shakespeare."

And so they kissed, and it was the sweetest of kisses. It was the only thing that mattered, the way they looked at each other, the way they spoke, the way they tasted in each others' mouths. It was beautiful, a sweet symphony of love.
