Ch. Twenty Three

Pov. Jin

Even to this day it feels weird. Jimin is now hugging me like his life depends on it. His cheeks are wet from how much he cried. His scent feels bitter but I still like it. And despite it all...despite being my best friend...and my Omega...he still acts like my servant. All at the same time

- A-And then the Lee f-family was kissing the Queen's a-ass the whole n-night

No matter how heartbroken he is, he lets me know about every single family. What they said in front of the Queen. And what they said behind her back. I have to go with Namjoon now. But I won't leave him alone.

- Thank you for helping me, Jiminie. Tae Tae will stay with you tonight, okay? I promise as soon as I'm done I'll come back to you

- C-Can I sleep in your room? I don't wanna b-be alone right now...

- Of course you can. I'm sure Tae's gonna join us too. Listen...did Yoongi...did he cross any limit? Do you want me to-

- N-No...I just...I need some t-time

And nod and kiss the top of his head before pulling away. No matter how many years goes by he still looks like the adorable kid that wanted to kill all of us in revenge of her mother. A lovely boy with a thirst for blood. I'm glad I took him in. I'm glad my father never used him for something terrible.

- I'll go then. And Jimin...I will never forgive Yoongi for what he did. But I'll support anything you wanna do. Just promise me you will not be in danger again.

- I promise, Hyung

- If he hurts you again, I'm gonna mark his neck...with my sword. Understood?

He chuckles and nods. How can I not take his side in life? How can I not give everything up to help him? I owe him my life. For me, he's like another brother. I feel like an idiot for asking him to work for me when he's already going through a lot on his own. But he was gonna do it anyway. He always does what I want. Because he owes me too. I guess we have an eternal debt.

Namjoon waits for me an I'm ready to talk. I'll try to make it fast so I can go back to my brother and Jimin. But even though I can start any moment now, Namjoon has other plans. For some reason he leaves the exam a side. And asks me a very different question.

- Do you trust Jimin?

- Excuse me?

- It's important to have a right hand. Even if it's a servant. But you have to be careful that hand doesn't stab your back. So I just wanna know...do you trust him?

- With my life

- Are you sure? You also said before that you trust your little brother. If I'm not wrong that kid was raised by your grandfather. Do you still think...

- I know it's weird. I don't love it either. But at the end of the day, I trust Taehyung as well. Him and Jimin might look dangerous for others but I know they're not. Tae lives with his head on the clouds, only caring about ancient creatures. And Jimin has enough to deal with on his own.

- Okay...I just want to make sure you trust the right people

- Is this because of what happened earlier? You don't have to worry. He has the order to protect me if an Alpha gets too close and I am asleep or unable to defend myself. If someone crosses the line, they're dead

- Did Jimin kill anyone before?

- Yes.

The answer comes out of me without thinking about it. Namjoon raises an eyebrow and stays silent. I realize he wants the full story. And I don't mind telling him.

- When I had my first heat...I thought I could handle it. I thought if someone even tried to get near me I would defend myself. But I was wrong. My body wasn't responding properly. I wasn't in my right mind. An Alpha that used to be the head of guards came in. I guess he liked my scent. I thought there was no way out of that. But in a second Jimin was there. And that Alpha didn't have a head anymore. I owe him a lot...

- I see... It's good he was there. So you have reasons to trust him. Does he have reasons to obey you? He seems... different than other servants

- The order he has to protect me wasn't given by me. He gave it to himself. I never ask for help, Namjoon. And yet, he's always there for me.

Namjoon lets out a smile. Usually, no one thinks Jimin can harm anyone. But he seems to have a very clear idea of how strong he can be. He nods and finally talks about my studies. He repeats his lesson about how not everyone is on my side. Not everyone is against me either. Some will be faithful to me as King and some won't.

As he asks about every family that came today to the ball he seems to be having fun. I have all the correct answers and he doesn't look surprised at all. Actually, it looks like was expecting me to have a perfect score.

- Well, you know everything...I guess it's true what they say...

- That I'm a genius?

- No one says that, Jin. But they say your family has ears on the walls.

- I don't know what you're talking about

- Yeah, maybe you don't have that...maybe you have a very loyal servant

I say nothing and he keeps smiling. It's getting late and I should go back to my room. I get up, ready to leave the room, but his voice stops me

- Oh, by the way, you don't have to come tomorrow

- What? Why?

- You're going great. I could almost say you're smart

- Almost?

- You can take a day off. You need some rest. I can see you're not sleeping well. And there's no hurry in a having a new class.

- Right...Well, good night then

He opens the door for me and I leave. For some reason I don't feel happy about this. I don't know what is it exactly. But I really wanted to see him again tomorrow. Maybe I just got used to his company. And to his low voice. And his green eyes. And his dimple smile...

I realize I'm smiling like an idiot. Immediately I stop myself. I have better things to do than think about that boring, annoying, lovely counselor. Yeah...

Hello~ Sorry it took me a week to update! Last week I had two very important exams (thankfully I passed) and I was very busy 😭

But we're back! With our lovely Namjin that's starting to catch feelings. Next one we'll just see the Omegas. And then, the action starts hehehe
