Brand new day

The birds, the crickets, the cicadas, the light mist on the freshly mowed lawns. What more do you need for a perfect day. Maybe a hot brew of tea or coffee or even a cold cup of water. Good morning

What's the rhyme? Bumped his head and couldn't get up in the morning. The second half is my reality. I lay staring at my ceiling, wondering what has become of my life. I never see my mum. I'm a bit worried about her, she hasn't had a social life since my father left us. She hasn't once bought any friends home. Is she lonely? All my friends, just the one, have boyfriends. I mean I don't really need one, but I just feeling like I'm always third wheeling. To be honest I feel like their daughter. Ugggh why do I have to be such a downer, come on Bex be happy. Just think you don't have to spend your money on anyone else or even have to worry about someone. Aaaahhhh the freedom.

Coffee. Mmmmmm my favourite, thank god mum had refilled the pods. My saviour. Pouring the coffee in first then grabbing the milk I set my coffee on the counter as I grab the leftovers from last nights dinner from the fridge and put it in my bag. Keys, keys, keys, where are you?

'Aah there you are'

Grabbing my keys, coffee and bag I head to my car locking the door on the way out. It's a 10min drive to school but thank god I have my own park at school. The dramas I hear of other students parking on the street, sounds stressful. Sometimes I wonder why I can never hear people, but then I remember I blast my music loud as can be so no one can hear me singing. Well anyway that's what the students hear when I turn up to school. Some look at me like I'm crazy sometimes, but I don't pay them to much attention.
Turning the car off and grabbing my half full coffee cup and bag, I exit my car and make my way to my tutor class. Being in my last year of high school , tutor class is actually pretty chill. Your teacher Mrs Cox is chill and sometimes joins in to listen to our deep conversations. She's even sweet enough to bring home baking in on our longer tutor days. She's so good at baking, she brings in brownies, shortbread and even my favourite blueberry muffins.
Taking my seat at the front of class, I open my Mac and just check my emails while I wait, as usual I'm always early, I actually like the peace and quiet. Even though it's not long, it's still something.

"Good morning Bex, how's ya morning been?" Mrs Cox asks as she closes the door walking to her desk

"Oh good morning, yes my morning has been great! I've had my morning coffee and now just checking emails and schedules. How's yours been." I reply as Mrs Cox settles into her chair

Mrs Cox replies "oh that's good honey! Yes my morning has been marvellous!"

Just as she finishes the year 9's walk in with their rather large bags, I mean I can't judge that was me 4 years ago. Coming in after the year 9's are the snotty judgemental year 10's, now these girls have attitude, I thought I was bad at their age but dayum these girls are a different breed. Then there's the year 11's, I swear half of them are high. Like they all look out of it, eyes droopy, and not to mention bloodshot. And the year 12's, I mean they're ok, they are gonna get a shock with all the work load they're about to get, but hey, i got through it.

"Good morning my lovely students. Let's get through the role and then I'd like to hear how everyone's weekend was." Mrs Cox starts.

One by one she's calls out each of the students names in last name alphabetical. And of course with my last name being Wells I'm always at the end. Most of the time I zone out, making myself jump every time my name pops up. After the roles done we start to share our weekends affairs starting with the year 9's. By the time they get to me I'm so zoned.

"Uuummmm yea I just stayed home and watched Netflix while doing homework... Of course"

The class laughs as they know I said that last week. I mean it's pretty much my life, well really the only life I have. School. Home. Homework. Dinner. Shower. Bed. REPEAT. It's kinda sad really. No wonder I only have one friend.

"Right, that's all for today class, I'll see you all tomorrow, go and challenge your brains"

Mrs Cox says that everyday, it's kinda cute.
I've history first, which I'm kinda liking it at the moment, very interesting. Last week our teacher, Mrs king was telling us about how in her day in school her history teacher told her that it was believed that on the outskirts of Woolston, there was a whole other world of mythical creature living. We of course laughed at the nonsense. If there really were mythical creatures, wouldn't they have shown themselves by now?
Anyway that's another conversation for another day. Heading into the back of the class I set up my laptop and open Netflix, I'm not really in the mood today to listen, I mean give me some slack it's god damn Monday. Slip the head phones in and I'm away with fairies for the rest of the lesson.
As I settle in to my chair the rest of the class file in gradually filling up the seats. I only have to wait 50mins then I can finally see Kingsley and have a proper conversation. We haven't really talked since last week, so we're in desperate need of a catch up.

"Good morning ladies, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and have rested yourself up, ready to learn about world war 2."

"Uuuuggghhhhhh"

I guess that's my cue the get back to Netflix
