Her apartment was dark and extremely warm thanks to herself, Asta buried under thick blankets as she stared into nothing. She knew she was going to have to get out of bed soon, he was going to be waiting on her.
She pushed herself up with a sigh, her breath coming out foggy even though her apartment was scorching hot.
"I feel alive, so I can't complain."
It was something she always said to herself, with no idea as to what it actually meant. She showered and put on some baggy clothes, grabbing a bag before heading off to the store down the street.
She carefully placed the same bottles and foods she usually gets into the bag, handing the regular cashier the money before leaving out of the store and heading to the ocean.
"Are you still ignoring me?"
"If I was ignoring you, I wouldn't bring you food every week." Asta huffed as she tossed him the bag, turning to walk away.
"Next week, then."
"Whatever." She started her trek back to her apartment, her senses on high alert as she stopped walking. "Come out, you're not good at hiding."
"Good thing I wasn't trying to hide then." Bruce said as he stepped out of an alleyway. Asta scrunched her nose before deadpanning.
"No." She stated blankly, walking away. But Bruce wasn't going to give up so soon, so he fell into step next to her.
"You don't even know what I was gonna ask." He nearly whined, Asta rolling her eyes as she pulled her hood further down.
"You're Batman, right?" The man nodded. "My da- I've heard a lot about you. So if you're here for me, that means you want my help with something."
"Would you at least consider it?" My da- That stuck with him. It sounded like she was so close to saying my dad knows you or something of the sort, but he doesn't remember anyone with a 'kid.'
"No." And she snapped her fingers, disappearing from his side as she went back to her apartment, discarding her clothes into a hamper as she went to shower.
"Jesus! Asta, you'll get sick!"
"Come dance with me, Da- Clark!"
Tears streamed down her face as she stood under the falling water, but her expression stayed neutral.
"I'll go and visit Momma Lois today." She decided as she laid in her bed, staring off into nothing once again.
"Wrong apartment." Asta called from her room door when someone knocked, there was a slight pause before they knocked again. "I'm not expecting visitors, so that door is staying shut."
There was another pause before rhythmic knocking took place, Asta groaning as she walked over to the door.
"Hello to you too." Diana greeted her with a smile, Asta looking around before allowing her in. "It's-"
"Hot? Yeah, you aren't the first person to say that." Asta said as she quickly opened some windows, toning down on the heat so the other woman would be more comfortable. "If you're here because Batman sent you, then I'm going to have to decline once again."
"Asta, we need your help." Diana said as she stood in front of her, Asta looking up at her in vague annoyance.
"Yeah, well I can't offer my help." She said, wrapping her blanket tighter around herself. A timer went off and she excused herself, the shower automatically turning on. "Now, I'm going to visit someone. I'll expect you to relay my message to Batman?"
