BOOM
Piper could barely feel the force of the explosion as she turned around and took a quick look at the damage, her right hand already holding onto another grenade that she was considering to throw. The basket quivered dangerously in her left arm as she struggled to regain her composure.
Brawling was a normal thing. Being stalked and having your mind play tricks on you was not.
Piper glanced around the area. The grenade didn't land too close to the buildings, and major damage was avoided. The crater in the ground wouldn't be noticeable once rainwater fills it in. Some crates had caught on fire, but they did not pose any threat towards the fireproof buildings all around. All in all, everything was pretty much alright.
But Piper was sure as hell that someone had just coughed somewhere behind her.
'Maybe- maybe it was just me-' Piper muttered to herself as she tried to stop her trembling legs. She took a deep breath, and the quivering finally stopped.
Piper sprinted forwards as quickly as she could. She had to get the cupcakes over to the Gift Shop before nighttime.
Minutes flew by. Piper finally arrived at the Gift Shop and resisted the urge to punch down the doors as she stepped into the shop.
The Gift Shop's shelves were filled to the brim with merchandise. Edgar hauled another box across the shop before realising that Piper had walked in. He groaned as he walked over to Piper.
'What do you want?'
'Just coming by to finish a delivery.'
'Colette!' Edgar shouted, anger being found in his voice. 'How many damn times do I need to tell you not to impulsively buy-'
'PIPER!!!!!!' A shrill voice sounded seconds before Piper found herself being tackled by a girl. 'YOU'RE HERE!!!'
Piper tried to push Colette away. The girl was always so crazy and full of energy. 'Please- please let go.' Piper tried to make sure that the basket was not going to fall. 'I'm going to drop these cupcakes to the floor if you don't!'
Colette retreated away almost instantly and crashed into a shelf of caps. 'Whatever you say, miss! Though you should know that I really really really love hugging you!'
Edgar cursed angrily as he went to rearrange the shelf.
'I can't get the others on the list done yet,' Piper explained as she placed the basket onto an empty table. 'We ran out of ingredients. Byron's going to get a resupply first thing in the morning.'
'Oh, don't worry about that!' Colette smiled as she took a cupcake out from the basket and plopped it into her mouth. Piper shivered slightly as Colette's terrifyingly sharp teeth glinted in the light of the lamps before disappearing as she closed her mouth.
'Tasty as always!' Colette beamed as she leapt around in the Gift Shop. 'Your baking skills are absolutely out of this world!'
'Colette, for crap's sake-' Edgar fell to the ground and cursed when he was trying to prevent a few specially-crafted lanterns from falling to the ground. '-DAMMIT!!! THAT WAS THE FIFTY-FIFTH DAMNED TIME YOU NEARLY KNOCKED DOWN THE LANTERNS SENT HERE BY THE PIRATE GANG!!!'
