I looked up at my father his large tendrils in the defensive position as we watched the sorcerers. He didn't look at me as always. I just didn't understand why we had to kill them. We could make peace. We didn't have to drain the color from everything, we chose to, but I liked looking at the pretty, fragile, flowers not destroying their beauty. My father whipped me when I brought a bouquet home for my mother's grave. Father never told me how she died but I bet it was at the hands of the wizards. Yet I couldn't be mad at them. I would watch them training in a tree perched on a limb. One of the professors saw me once before, he did nothing except nod in my general direction, and left me alone. I was thinking about going and talking to him. He was an angel he should protect all species right? He never went out on missions. He was only a protector of order and the children. I continued watching.
Today I was perched near the infirmary. I was watching a boy that was talking to the medical doctor. He was not a wizard he was a god. He scared me quite a bit with his red eyes and his humanoid creeper combo. He stalked around like a predator. The boy on the other hand was pale, had silver hair, and deep pale red eyes. He looked like he was made of porcelain. He looked at me and his eyes narrowed slightly as though he couldn't see me clearly. I nodded slightly and leapt away on all fours. We were a strange species. Me jumped on all fours and ran on two legs. We could camouflage as humans except our eyes. They all had obnoxious colored eyes. Mine were stuck with a bright unnatural green. My father's were yellow my mothers were electric blue. I don't remember much except she was kind and always warm.
I miss her greatly. I closed my eyes curling up in a tree. I don't know when I fell asleep but I woke up to someone wrapping me up in a blanket gently. I looked up into the angel's eyes. He smiled slightly and scooped me up. He swooped to the professor's hall and stowed away into his room.
"It's good to see you I haven't seen you in around a month"
"You've seen me more than just that one time?"
"Yes quite frequently I've brought you inside multiple times and put you back in the morning. I thought you'd been asleep longer so you wouldn't wake up"
"Thank you"
"Why are you thanking me it's the right thing to do. I only teach here because I am not needed in the angel's home realm until wars come around. We have not had a war in centuries. Bring you in is simply the right thing to do"
As he spoke he settled himself into a chair setting his own wing over himself. He looked at me expectantly. I felt safe with him in his bed. I laid down. He curled up in the chair.
"Can I tell you something?"
"Of course anything"
"I'm not angry with the sorcerers they don't scare me or make me angry we're all just trying to live. If anything combined we would be dangerous as a fighting force. Slenders do not fight unless we feel threatened"
"I thought so for when I looked at you that one time you tensed"
I nodded and spoke "I'm a hybrid of sorts I have magic too I can heal people with almost any injury even death well most of the time if they've been dead for a while I can't"
He nodded. He had perked up when I said even death but deflated slightly when I said been dead for a while. He must of lost someone dear to him I did see him visit a graveyard and he spoke to one of the ghosts. Most people could see ghosts no matter what species of either but also most with that imagination don't use it. The man was one who did see them. People thought he was crazy except the dean who did the same thing. He didn't notice me he was to clouded by anger to acknowledge my presence. I watched him often. He was interesting. Once again I didn't notice that my thoughts lulled me into sleep until I woke up near my home camp a small downy feather tickling my nose a note in my pocket.
'Visit me tonight at seven I will get you some dinner you are way to thin'
